Mas airflow problem? need help.
Ok so here is my situation guys.... car runs smooth through the powerband until I reach about 4k then it begins to bog down and sputter a bit. I took the mas airflow sensor off and cleaned it reset the ecu by disconnecting the positive battery terminal and it was running fine but then began to bog randomly through the power band sounds like a faulty mas airflow right? I need some input on other possible things.... also on where to get a mass air sensor quickly. Thanks guys in advance.

How did you "clean" the MAF? PLEASE tell me you didn't rub it with a towel or anything. You are supposed to use "electronic contact cleaner", spray it on there and let it dry for like 30 minutes before reinstalling.

both during wide open throttle and gradual. Its not like clockwork or anything it kind of just a random bog... and the real reason we think its the MAF is because it seems like a computer issue because the car is going smooth and then it seems like a forced stop. .... I dont know that was just like mine and my friends logical deduction because its happened to us with other cars and cold air intakes.... what are other possibilities?

Seems like it *could be a MAF, but I am unsure. A toothbrush is a bad idea as it has a good chance of scratched the surface of the MAF, fouling it completely. I would just wait until tomorrow and get some contact cleaner then before trying anything else.

Start w/ changing the plugs.
Just use the search function of the forum for the NGK part number. There has been quite a few threads about plugs.
Hopefully the MAF isn't damaged. Try the plugs, let us know how it turns out.

i don't see why you wouldn't be able to get them at a dealer... i imagine they are QUITE expensive. If I'm not mistaken, a MAF for a 4ag from toyota... that's right those old engines from the 80's, is about 200 bucks...
