Default AAM return fuel system gas vapour smell problem

I know that this has been talked about before, the gas smell in my garage since installing the AAM return fuel system is getting annoying.. I was wondering if anyone has discovered a fix for this problem yet.. I have checked my system front to back and have found no fuel leaks, I'm assuming it has something to do with the evap system. One problem I do notice with the return fuel system is that it does heat the fuel in the tank with engine heat, this problem makes the gas smell worse on warm days or when the car has been running for a lengthy time. I'm planning on putting some sort of PCV check valve in the evap return hose on the left side of the intake plenum.. I have concerns that boost is pressurizing my fuel tank as it is designed for vacuum and not positive pressure.. Any additional thoughts are greatly appreciated... thx..

Sorry I missed any previous posts regarding this issue...I am having the same problem. When the car is parked overnight in a closed garage...the gasoline vapors/smell is quite prominent the next morning. The Z is going into the shop today and we are checking/replacing all of the injector O-rings as well as checking all of the AAM fittings. Hopefully this will eliminate the source of the gasoline odor, but if not I would also welcome any other suggestions.

Exactly. My garage REEKS from the smell. I have noticed that it seems strongest near the front passenger tire. I smell it big time when I am cleaning that wheel or putting tire dressing on that tire.

What, if anything it up there?

I have asked AAM and they don't have an answer.

I contacted AAM as well. Here is Dave's reply.

The only thing I can think of is check all the o-rings and machined
surfaces for possible irregularities. Let me know if there is anything
else I can help with.

My mechanic is looking into the problem tomorrow. If he locates a source I will advise.

This seems to be a universal problem for all with the AAM fuel system.

I'm not changing to new injectors...just afraid one (o-ring) may not be seated correctly. Since we're going in there anyway we are installing new injector o-rings. Picking up the car today...I'll let you know if we have any luck with fixing the vapor issue.

Yes, but do you think that EVERYONE has an unseated O-ring? This seems to be a very common finding with this system.

The shop put new injectors in when they did my rebuild . Doesnt new injectors come with o-ring on them ? Thought for sure I seen them on , or close to the tips of them . My shop seemed to think it was from the E-vap system too .
I just went out to the garage . I filled the car yesterday and now I hardly smell it at all .

No, I don't. It's just one possibilty that would explain the odor so we are checking them. One on the o-rings did in fact have a small hole in it. All of the fittings checked out.

I am hoping the o-ring was the souce in my case. If I still have the odor in the garage tomorrow morning I'm back to square one on this issue.

Glad the odor is gone. RC 440cc injectors have three o-rings per injector.

The source of the smell was not the injectors, or caused by an unseated or damaged injector o-ring.

Could it be the fuel regulator?

Default EVAP code P0442

What exactly does EVAP pertain to? I have about 1K miles on my Vortech w/AAM fuel lines and I just threw a code. Twice. I am leaking fuel from my tank somewhere. I can see it collecting around my pump (and on the ground), but is NOT coming from the pump or return line. I can actually see it seaping in from over the little hump.

CAN350Z questioned if the tank is being presurrized. Is this the case? Where are the other possible leaks other than around the pump? Possibly where you fill the tank?

I've never seen any leaks anywhere. All I know is that my garage still smells like fuel BIG TIME unless I leave the doors opened.

Again, I smell it MUCH stronger down by the front passenger wheel well. I noticed this when I am cleaning my rims. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Is there anything special about the AAM system that is over in that area?
