Default Engine with More HP on our VQ35DE

Hello Guys,

Peter who races in GT Production racing in Australia went to France for a trip and I spoke to him this morning... he asked me to take a look at the Renault website because he actually saw these 2 race prep. engines on the race cars over there...

Here are the links that I found for you guys.. quite interesting to see how much HP can be extracted out from our V6 engine though!

330HP /6500 rpm
383.7 Nm / 4500 rpm
http://www.renault-sport.com/fr/worl..._technique.php

425HP /8250 rpm
440Nm /7000 rpm
http://www.renault-sport.com/fr/worl..._technique.php

enjoy them!

cheers,

richie

If my french doesn't suck...

the 425hp engine only has the block in common with the commercial VQ, the rest is all competition specific design/bred

the 330hp engine... only has modified lower carter, rod bolts, cam shafts, valves and intake manifold, the rest is stock

Z350Lover, in the second link they even mention 350z.
"En collaboration avec Solution F, Renault Sport Technologies a développé un tout nouveau moteur basé sur le bloc aluminium équipant le Coupé Nissan 350Z. Hormis le bloc, toutes les pièces sont spécifiques à la compétition."

"In collaboration with Solution F, Renault Sport Technologies developed a very new engine based on the block aluminium equipping the Half-compartment Nissan 350Z. Except the block, all the parts are specific to the competition."

Hmm, I didn't know that Coupe was french for half-compartment.

I don't think thats whp, car manufacturers always refer to crank power.. but still that puts it right where the M3 is.

Jonathan...

FYI, according to Peter, the 330HP engine is nearly exactly the same setup as the nismo's S-tune engine spec 1 from Japan... which is only being rated as 300hp from the flywheel... but the thing is... when we installed the engine package, we found out that it does not only produce 300hp from the crank.... but quite a lot more than what nismo stated... we got 35rwHP gain from the engine package with the addition of headers... and with 280HP on the stock engine + 35rwHP... I think that's well over 300HP from the flywheel I believe.... and we are still running on the standard premium unleaded fuel...

so 330HP (flywheel figure) is easily achieveable with the N/A tune I believe.

cheers,

richie

if you are talking about 280whp, I think it has been done here already. with cams, headers, high-flow cats, free-flow exhaust, and ecu.. it can be done..

the 330hp is nothing exceptional, anyone can reach those figure in a way or another.

the 425hp one is another story ... wonder how bolt-on it would be and if renault would be willing to sell only the engines...Formula renault is pretty open.

Be a fun tranny in the Z...

Renault 3.5 Formulated is equipped with a semi-automatic gear box sequential with passage of the six reports/ratios at the wheel. The clutch pedal disappears, leaving to the pilot the possibility of slowing down left foot.

Nano is correct there... that's what I meant.... 330HP is not really exceptional with the N/A tune though.... I am sure our engine can produce even more with higher compression ratio... but just the tuning will be the key to get the reliability out of the engine. I might try that later on down the track... but just not now...

cheers,

richie
