adding an oil cooler
thinking about adding an aftermarket oil cooler. The one that I will add will not have a thermostat like to nismo one.
1 question though.... does the oil filter mount on a ring that is plumbed for an oil cooler or do I have to make an adapter of some sort. Also do you think it will mess up the oil pressure readings

most aftermarket oil coolers have an adapter that attachs next to the filter that puts lines to the cooler, and back in again.
try to get a thermastatic opener, so that when the engine is cold, the valve is closed to the cooler and only opens when the temperature heats up.
as far as oil pressure goes.. it shouldnt affect it TOO much, but as far as the benefits from it, its greatly outweighs the ~few psi drops anyway, since you will be having more oil in the system....

cooler oil allows the engine to run a little better to prevent oil breakdown/boiling point.
if you're pushing the car really hard, with lots of revs, the temp of the oil goes up, and when that happens, the effectiveness of the oil in how it protects and lubes the engine starts to decrease.
so.. by adding an oil cooler, it helps dissipate the heat generated.
its really good for warm/hot areas (like the desert) during summer monthes or if you race the car when the car is at high rpms at long periods of time.
