OEM clutches suck...any ideas?
seeing as i intended on upgrading the clutch/flywheel anyway, i'm not exactly angry over this, but it does **** me off that nissan would put in such a shitty clutch to begin with.
The car has under 30k miles on it, and the clutch slips daily. Is this a common thing? Would it be covered under warranty or is the clutch life only supposed to be 30k miles? and is the clutch considered a normal wear/tear item and not covered?
Also, i'm curious on the power difference with the JWT vs. stock - as far as power capability, and stiffness of the pedal.
Are there any adjustments I could make to possibly get alittle more life out of the clutch? It goes in over winter for a few other things so thats when i was planning on doing the clutch, i'd prefer to not do anything about it until then.

I have 50K on my stock clutch, its survived 3 transmissions, powershifting, and 6000rpm clutch drops on slicks, and guess what? It still chirps 3rd like its new. Maybe you are the type of driver that kinda burns the clutch taking off the line? Maybe the type of driving your doing is prematurely making it slip. Did you break it in? As far as an upgrade I have a JWT clutch/FW combo waiting for me, but like I said my stock clutch hasnt given up on me yet. It can hold around 400whp with no issues-it can hold more but will wear prematurely, and the pedal is supposedly lighter than stock. Good luck...
if any damage was done it was done by the previous owner. I just picked the car up last thursday. I've only driven the car for 4 days total, so I doubt that 4 days worth of driving did that to the clutch.

is there anyway I can adjust the clutch to possibly get about 4 months of use out of it. It's not my daily driver so it doesn't get driven TOO often. But being a new toy, i do like to take it out more often than I will after the new toy idea settles down.

if it's slipping already adjusting the cables won't improve that... but just to throw another angle at it... it may not be the clutch at all
one thing I noticed about the Z's clutch is that due ot the double-disk design, it feels really "mushy". I only have 12k on my clutch and it definitely feels a lot worse at take off and low rpms than other cars that I've driven with more than 120k.
The reason I know that my clutch is just mushy and not actually slipping is going WOT in 4th, 5th or 6th while going up a hill... sticks like glue. I'd give this little test a try before doing any adjustments/replacements.

no..the clutch is slipping. As in RPM's rise as my MPH stands still. Happens at downshifts, and acceleration. It's neat how theres alittle "slip" light that pops on whenever it slips.

Unless you've really been abusing your OEM clutch, I'd be surprised if it has worn to the point of replacement at under 20K. If you're really concerned about it, try learning to heel-toe downshift- it will really cushion the clutch engagement and save your syncros to boot!

then it's a very odd coincidence that it came on at the same time my clutch was slipped yesterday. It was the first time I noticed the 'slip' light. I don't know what would have happened for the slip light to come on, i was doing around 50 mph. Granted it was alittle rainy/wet out...doubt it though.
The clutch is slipping, i don't go by flashing lights and beeping noises to tell me that. As I said, unless i've been misinformed for years, the RPM's are raising as the mph stands still. It happened on a downshift from 5th to 4th at highway speeds, and a few times in various gears accelerating.
Like I said, i've only owned the car for a week. I got it private sale, and the clutch was fine when i drove it. Compared to a few of the new Z's i drove from the lots at dealerships, it felt the same. I've put maybe...500 miles on the car so far, and that includes the 200 i drove it home on the highway.
Car has around 28,000 on it.

The rear wheels spinning would cause the exact same situation of RPMs rising while speed remains the same. The fact that this happened in the rain when your slip light came on makes it even more plausible.
Don't take this the wrong way, but if you are not used to driving a RWD manual with some torque it could be your driving style. Again, not flaming you, but a logical conclusion in that you just got the car.

I'm used to driving a saleen mustang. Not sure, but I think that would qualify for alittle bit of torque

It wasn't the fact that it was in a slightly wet condition, it was in dry as well..and not only at take offs. It's at speed as high as 60mph when i shift. I don't konw too many cars that can spin it's tires at 60mph on a highway, shifting into 5th or 6th gears at just standard acceleration rates.

first off, why don't you go RTFM so you know what all those pretty lights on the dash mean, instead of slamming the engineers because you don't understand something. for all you know the previous owner beat on it like a dog...

Nissan didn't put a shitty clutch in the car, so don't be mad at them. Either the previous owner really rode the clutch for a long time or its a figment of your imagination 
What kind of RPM to MPH differential are you seeing at highway speeds etc. Are you revving an additional 2,000 rpms while staying at 60mph? 200 rpms? Do you have any data?

I can also vouch for the stock clutch...mine had 36K miles when I switched it out for a JWT combo (because I'm installing a TT kit). My clutch had virtually no wear after 36K HARD miles. Track and strip days included. I've always driven my car hard and launched on slicks and drag radials. I NEVER excessively slip the clutch though. That's just asking for a clutch to wear out quickly.
