Default new idea

I got a new different idea.

First I came up with this
https://my350z.com/forum/intake-exhaust/130586-intercoolers.html

didnt think it through...
Then I thought what if we were to cool the plenum...

First off you would need the thermal gaskets then second you would need some method of cooling and keeping the plenum cool. But would the benefits outweigh the costs? (N/A and FI)

Then I got to thinking why not put a air/liquid intercooler on the car and hook up some sort of refrigation system to it. (for F/I cars). Race cars could reroute the AC lines so that the AC could cool the intercooler since they dont use AC anyways.

Food for thought shoot me some feedback.

Skunk2 already makes a plenum spacer that's supposed to not transfer heat as bad, didn't know if you'd seen it or not, just FYI.

i know they have the thermal gaskets but something more along the lines of an active cooling system.

How does it rate against the AAM plenum spacer? Will it fit under the stock strut bar?

Doesn't sound like the cost of making such a thing would justify the performance gains. But it still sounds like a cool concept.

I understand what you are saying. I think maybe alcohol injection might be a better idea to cool an intake charge though. I think if you wanted an active cooling system you would have to use something like the Vortech Power cooler with a super cooling media. I think that the thermo gaskets are great for minimizing heat transfer from the block to the intake manifold but you also do get quite a bit of heat transfer directly through the air....so they are not the ideal answer by far.
