As a rule # 1 bank is the bank with #1 piston. Looking at a birds eye down at the motor it is the side that is farthest to the front, and yes, in this case the Pass side

On a Chev---#1 bank is the Drivers side

this thread cost me 77 bucks on a unneeded cam position sensor.

Nissan should really call the sensors bank 1 and bank 2, not just left and right since l and r are relative to how you look at the engine.

Do they not have Left and Right ??? It is certainly standardized here. RWD or FWD, Left is standing at the bellhousing. Oviously in Japan also, since Brackets, Shrouds, and Headlites are marked Left and Right standing at the rear of the Car facing the front

not really...
is your car a Right hand drive or left hand drive? obvious answer is that if your car is a left hand drive, wouldn't the left hand side of the motor = the driver's side?

That would make sense if I was standing on my head and looking in a mirror maybe

the problem was that the DTC code said "cam position sensor a Bank 1" and the part description was " cam position sensor a" Left or right. Even the parts guy didnt know. I had to figure out which side was bank 1 and which was bank 2. I went off the misinformation in this post and purchased the wrong sensor. Later, i read through the OEM service manual and saw bank1 and bank 2 clearly marked. I knew i bought the wrong sensor side so i had to buy the other side.

future note: Its accepted not excepted.

^lol, first time that searching has busted my *****. No biggie i guess, if one of these sensors was bound to die so was the other one.

What sucks is the dealerships labor rate. How do some of the techs sleep at night? they wanted 1.5hrs to change the bank 2 sensor and probably the same for bank 1. It took me 30 min to do bank 2 (have to remove TB and intake piping) and 15 min to do bank 1 ( removed PCV valve on plenum and the motor was hot) All it requires is a 10mm deep socket, 3/8" drive and youre set.
