Default Stock Flywheel Seperating??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I bought a JWT flywheel upgrade for my cr and was having it installed to day by Japanese auto tech (a local shop in austin) . They give me a call and say "hey allen we might have to keep the car till tomorrow morning since your repair job is going to take longer than we though" I say "repair job? im just getting the stock flywheel replaced with a JWT, is there something wrong with the JWT?"
"no, the JWT is great and weve installed tons of these before we just figured this was a repair job bc your two-piece flywheel has seperated. There is grease all over the inside of your tranny, we just thought you knew....."
"How the hell can that happen? and no i didnt know although my cluthc had felt a little loose lately"
"oh no the tranny is fine right now and the mess has been relegated to just where the flywheel sits but if youhad given this another month your whole tranny would have been bad. It looks like whoever installed this didnt torque it down right and it got loose which caused the problem"

So i go down there to see the flywheel. This thing looks like it exploded from the inside out. What a piece of crap! My car has 5500 miles on it, thats it! I bought it brand new. This is unbelievable to me. I guess thank god i mod my car so i no about all that. How much you want to bet the dealer would say ive ben driving the car to hard or my aftermarket rims but too much strain on teh tranny etc. I practicaly wanted to kiss the guy for calling me then offering to bring it by my work the next day so i wouldnt have to wait. So if anyone is in austin pay japanese auto tech a visit. I am now a customer of theirs for life lol.

I felt the same way you did. I love doing it myself but i dont have the equipment to even get it done so i had to look else where. It cost me 325 before my discount. Which was fair since its an all day job. Thats why alot of people replace the clutch as well. Since i was so low miles it didnt make much sense to replace a brand new clutch. If i had known my stock setup was in pieces then i would have sprung for another clutch too.

5500, the same as my car. Its an 05 and about 6 months old. Nissan doesnt even know about it yet as i found this out today. Im going to take some pics of the flywheel and contact my dealer as well as NNA to see if i can get re-imbursed for some of my out of pocket costs. I wont be mad if nothing happens though since luckily there was no irreversable damage and i was going to swap out the flywheel anyways. I would like a new stock flywheel though, maybe i can ebay it for some $$

Cool thanks let me know how your setup turns out. I am in debate on which way to go on mods. I have a 240sx that I want to sr20det swap and not sure if a turbo will make it into my Z anytime soon. So many wants and only so much cash
