+1 on lessons, $1000 is a lot of $$$ to spend on test and tune nights at the dragstrip practicing launching and shifting.

For modding here is what I would do:

$100-110-JWT Pop-charger
$200-250-Test-pipes
$300-500-Y-pipe
$355-Crawford Plenum
$200-220-UR Crank pulley

That will get you a nice NA set-up all while retaining the stock muffler(sleeper) and will get you a nice mid-range and top-end pull above stock. You can decide on which test-pipes and y-pipes to get, the quality and prices vary greatly on these, for the others you can shop around and see who has the best prices.

+1. A high performance driving class makes the 350Z come alive. About $250 for a class and $250 for a helmet. Now you have $500 left over to put towards some decent tires.

no problem, there are a couple of places to get the best prices from... Forgred Internals- Sharif, Intense Motorsports, Avalon Racing, and Nissan Performance Parts! They are the best people to deal with and have the best prices! Plus theya re sponsers here and often help on the forums.
