One thing that strikes me as curious. I thought that in most modern computer-controlled cars, the computer managed the idle rpm. I don't know for sure how idle is managed on the 350Z, but it does surprise me that changing the grounding would dramatically lower idle, the way folks are reporting.

Another question (since I don't actually own one of these cars) - the cables you're installing, are they replacing existing ground wires, or are some of them new connections you're adding?

I personally didn't notice a difference in idle RPM. Idle may be a little smoother, less variance, but that's about it. To be true, I didn't measure it before & after.

The grounding kit doesn't replace anything, it enhances. From the factory there are one or two (I don't really know) engine ground wires, but you don't do anything to them (or even acknowledge their existence) when you install a grounding kit.

If you're looking for dramatic difference, I'd say this might be a disappointment. I see it as a cheap easy way to help ensure that things are working as well as possible.

Ah, thanks. Didn't realize they were all new wires.

Thumbs up Cool

We have similar tires too and we both are in California. We need to get a CA Chapter Car Club going!

lol
I'm game for a CA Chapter... although we are like 8 hours apart on I-5.

And as for my tires, I'm getting rid of my Nitto 555. Apparently, that was the wrong size to get. America Tire guy recommended the wrong sizes... i.e., 275 in the rear was too wide. See what happened here.

I dropped the washers that were stuck to the bottom of the engine cover... So I got underneath the car, and started pounding on the diffuser until i hear the washer bounce around, then i tweaked my hand around and grabbed it.

Actually there is a guy here on the board thatdoesn't post to often that is working on some GTG's. If we met in the middle it would be 4 hours each, and what a fun drive

Read the thread just know thanks.

They told me the same thing here about my tire sizes, I am keeping mine regardless, I'm not sweating it, I just lowered my air pressure some. It feels right to me.

But your wheels are 8.5 rite? In your case, that should be fine b/c America Tire recommended the 275 tire size with their wrong information on the wheel size: their data said that Touring came with a 8.5" wide wheels, instead of 8". Putting 275 on 8" wide stock wheels like me is a whole 1 inch less than the manufacturer recommend size. And 0.5 inch less than the America Tire recommends.

America Tire admitted their fault and replacing all four Nitto tires with the correct (stock) size Bridgestone S-03's.

Yes correct, and I lowered my air pressure from their 35 pounds to 32.

Default Thanks Insaneanime

Installed Insaneanime's kit yesterday and noticed a smoother ride... granted it wasn't a life changing experience, but well worth the price... PLUS excellent goodies thrown in. Thanks again Insaneanime.... you da man...

Installed mine 2 days ago. Noticed an improvement in the idle, much smoother. Thanks Guy.

does it matter if you don't use the "standard" mounting location? I installed mine but in different location. I think I noticed smoother idle, not sure...

It doesn't really matter, as long as you have a nice loop. I have both Guy's (Insaneamine) and Mike's (Skiddazle) kit. Both have different routing for their respective kits. No significant difference between them. Both offered smooth idle and rev above 4K.

by loop you mean wires are connected in the circle with each other?

Here is what I did..

battery to front of engine
right side intake manifold to front of engine
left side intake manifold to front of engine
underneth hood sensor (frame) to front of engine

that's it. so all wires connects to front of engine and then back to battery. Is this fine?

Perfect! Sounds very similar to Insaneamine's kit.
