Default Camshaft Position Sensor A

Recently I had a problem with the car jerking a lot and after putting the code reader to it came back with a malfunction in the crankshaft position sensor. After doing research I found out that there is a recall on it, but the dealer said they would not work on it because it is modified, plus I didnt want to go thru the hassle of taking off the bodykit etc. I bought the recall pack and it consisted of 3 sensors (1 crankshaft, 2 camshaft). It was very easy to install and I installed the correctly on each side. After I took it for a testdrive it started the jerking business again and the engine shut off. I had to keep on starting it back up and slowly make my way back home. I put the reader back up to it and now it comes back with: Camshaft Position Sensor A - Bank 1 Circuit Malfunction. Is there something I did not do right while installing? Maan I want my car running!!!!!! Can somebody please help me out? Thanks.

Did you follow the Nissan service manual procedure for replacing these sensors?

Is there anything else that is suppose to be changed in conjuction with the sensors? Though, the manual didnt mention anything like that.

When I had changed the sensors I had to disconnect the battery. After connecting it, I went ahead and put the reader to it and there were no codes at that time.

first off, anything that is on a nissan bulletin should be covered under warranty no matter what!! i have had problems with my local dealer also, but a call to the nissan office might rectify it for you. the recall was only on the first half year (i believe) of the 03's though.
s far as our current problem, as long as you didn't turn the ignition key on during the install when the sensors were unplugged, you should be fine. you can even switch the sensors up and put them on the wrong sides and it sould work fine. i have gotten bad sensors right out of the box and it may have happened to you also. if it continues, i would try to return the sensor, or switch sides and see if the trouble code follows to the other side. the only difference is the angle of the connector. other than that they are just magnetic pickups.

Okay I will definitely try that out!!! Out of curiosity that is what would be causing the jerking?

so you must have gotten a po340 code originally. i looked up in the nissan sevice manuals and about the only thing that can be wrong is a bad sensor or you didn't get the connector back on correctly. unless you installed your intake cam incorrectly, which you didn't even touch, lol. but sounds like you still have the other ones you pulled out, so easy swap to test it.
so what conditions does it stutter under? need more info for that. part throttle, full throttle, speed induced, or throttle induced, or load induced and around what rpm's.

Maan what sucks is that I threw away the old sensors!!! It stutters pretty much in any gear once I get on the pedal a little. Once in awhile the engine shuts down while iam cruising with no throttle. The code that I got was P0340.

I had that same exact error on my Golf, switched the sensor to no avail. I think they just use that one when they don't know what the hell is wrong. Bastards.

Many issues can be resolved by unplugging the ECU for a few minutes, and then reconnecteing it. I used to get a throttle position voltage correlation error, and the engine would not rev beyond 1200rpm. Unplugged the ECU for a few moments, and it never came back. Resetting the codes alone, is sometimes not enough. Give it a try.

Te code you are getting seems to indicate that the connector/sensor is not seated properly, or that sensor is bad.

I just got this code too...recently had my engine detailed, I am wondering if the sensor got damaged. Anyone have a pic of it? I have no idea where it is.
