Default Plenum polishing questions

I have removed the plenum and have started the process of polishing it. I have searched and searched for a DIY on this, but am pretty much just going at it by trial and error. So far, I don't believe I have made any errors, but there is one thing that is questionable for me at this point.

Once I am finished, and am ready to put the plenum back on, should I use sealant around the gasket? Or should I just put it back on without using any sealant.

If I am supposed to seal it, would this work? "Permatex Sensor-Safe Ultra Copper High Temp RTV Silicone."

Most people reuse the factory gasket. If you don't feel comfortable, get a new factory one. I wouldn't fool with the liquid gasket stuff myself.

When you give up on the polishing let me know and I'll give you the name of a guy that does it reasonably cheap.

I attempted it a while back and figured out that I'd spend more on equipment and polishes than what I could pay an expert to do it for.

Here is some info I came across if you are set on trying it yourself....

http://www.z31.com/repairs/polishfaq.shtml
http://robrobinette.com/polish.htm
http://www.caswellplating.com/buffs/alpolkit.htm

Google "aluminum polishing" and you'll find a bunch of stuff....

I used the stuff from caswell plating.

The good part, is that once you have the materials, you can polish all sorts of stuff for the car.

Here's a pic of a TSX projector mounted onto the stock G35 reflector. The shroud is polished tin sheets.

Yes, sand cast aluminum. The sand casting make it very rough requiring a lot of grinding or sanding to get it smooth enough to start the polishing process.

I don't see why not. I've seen pictures of people that have gotten them powdercoated.
