You and your friend both have TD exhaust, and both have intakes, only his is a much shorter and direct path. WHen you both hit it was it an even start?

If so and he pulled ahead at first it-Im going to say it was because of his intake. Imagine having to suck in water through a long a$$ straw(your CAI) or a short one(his pop-charger), you will finish the cup with the short straw first. Ive never really been a fan of CAI's, on my Z my pop-charger gained 10whp over my AEM CAI on the same dyno, both dyno's SAE corrected. In my experience when you punch it with a CAI @ low rpm's you get what you described, a slight bog, a hesitation. Try running your intake in short ram mode, and try the race again, I guarantee you wont feel such a pause in power.

Edit-I see you have also added subs and $hit (weight) that will slow your car down, especiallly down low....

I agree. No offense, but if you wanna be faster don't add weight to ur car! The whole point is to make ur car lighter. Lighter = faster!
Now about the intake, I hear all diff stories. I think they all add the same hp, give or take 1, 2 hp.

I can almost guarentee that it's your Injen exhaust. 80% of the people who owns this exhaust has your same problem. People who doesn't, are running FI or a lot of bolt ons. In a way, this is because you have minimal mods, and you don't have enough backpressure to utilize the exhaust, yet. Therefore, getting a SC or TT will solve your problem
