Default Third gear problems- help

Well when I am in around 4K rpm or Higher and shift to third gear I'm getting a bad grinding noise.
It will not shift smoothly into third gear at all.

Could it be the Tranny or Clutch? What your take on it guys?

Mine too. But I also get it in 4th. I took it into the dealer for some other work and just had them check that out oo while it was there, and the master tech told me that the 3rd and 4th gear syncros are broken, and they dont fix those (of course) and they would have to replace the transmission ALREADY! at 18k miles!!!!!

I was told by the dealer ship that the tranny was under warranty until 5 year 60K miles.

I took my car to the dealer and they wouldn't touch it. Everyone on the forum said they were suppose to fix it for free (warrenty). I only have 11,000 miles on my car. I took it to cottmans transmission and had it rebuilt with "the new and improved nissan syncros". Well, the tranny is a peice of crap and I have to get it rebuilt again. It is under warrenty with cottmans now. The total cost was 3500.00 dollars.

That one dude is crazy for taking his car to another place to have his transmission fix. You just totally messed up your warranty with nissan. Your transmission is cover under warranty and I just got mines replace like over 2 weeks ago. You could file a grievance against the dealer or just take your car to another dealer. Better yet call NNA and file your grievance against that dealer. If that doesn't work then get a lawery but I highly doubt you'll have to go that far. I know nissan can **** you off but sometimes you have to man up and tell them what the f*** is up forreal. This one dealer tried to f*** me over by claiming it was my neutral safety switch blowing. I got my car back and got stuck in forth gear again because that was my initial problem. I could not shift into any other gears. Well after this incident of having me drive all the way from SC to GA because I was home when this problem happen. I was so pissed off by shaking the service advisor hand like he did something good for me but he tried to screw me. He probably thought I wasn't going to drive my car hard til I got back to SC and my problem would of happen again. Boy he was totally wrong! So after that incident I told the service advisor to walk outside with me and I straight up told him what was on my mind. At this he told me he was getting me a new transmission and I was like great. The only problem with my new transmission was the neutral area had a little notch between 5 and 6 gear if you push the stick over too far. I got that fix by the dealer here and everything is gravy. Good Luck ya'll and down let them push ya'll over.

if they think it's abuse they won't warrenty the tranny, and adding forced induction to the motor will give them reason enough not to warrenty the job.
Total B.S I think

I just lost my third gear in my 04 350z and nissan would not cover it due to my aps twin turbo setup. Needless to say nissan has had 5 Versions of there pos transmission. I just bought a new tranny from sharif at forged internals which is the most recent (Version-9) for under 2k shipped....
