Lightbulb KJR Crank Pulley or UR Crank Pulley?

What would people say is a better choice and why? Other than the fact, that the Kjr pulley uses the stock belts. Do they give the same Hp? Opinions would be appreciated...............

I agree, the KJR is great, and you use stock belts, so it's easier and cheaper to work on down the line.
we sell both, and have many customers who have used both. No issues, and nothing but good things to say.

KJR! Really nice guy... I know him personally and IMO better to support someone that is still in college working his way up by being creative and designing AMAZING equipment... over supporting a big business that has a footing in the industry like UR...

just my personal opinion...

Plus I love my KJR pulley... works great!

UR pulley set here and its great! Not a major difference on the HP side, but helps on acceleration. If I would do it all over again I would probably do the KJR and save $30 on the belts.

UR Pulley here and I would not change a thing. If you have a supercharger in mind for the future though I would go with the KJR. I knew I was going turbo so I went with UR and never looked back.

I went with KJR simply because i was told that the underdrive can cause the alternator etc to be less efficient, and i would have had to purchase new belts. I don't know that it would actually cause me any difference, but i prefer to get all the juice out of the systems i can.

Question Install.........

Im leanin more towards the KJR cause I can use the stock belts and get the same performance. I've done all the wrench time on my car, but I've never done this. Don't know if I want to do it, considering I never done it before. How much do you think it well cost to get done?

So, basically I will get the same performance from each. Not really any difference, except for the name brand and one is underdrive? But performance is same?

yes because you will not feel the difference in 1-2 hp being freed up...i went ahead and put on new belts when installed my KJR just because it was easier this way

You will feel the difference in response though... holy... at least with my 5 speed you sure could! It felt great out there autocrossing with the new response time!

also... the install was dirt *** easy actually... I did it the scary way with the breaker bar and the ground... just make sure you follow the instructions and it can take only about 30 - 50 mins... very simple

I installed KJR and have no regrets. I think I might have been one of the early purchasers, back when the instructions had the torque specs for the crank bolt wrong. Jonathan was terriffic, making himself available by home phone, etc. We got the problem solved and the correction posted on these boards immediately. Can't say enough good things about my experience w/ this supplier.

Has anyone ever had a loss in midrange torque using the KJR pully? I'm thinking about going with the KJR to keep my options open later when I go F/I.

I have the KJR on my 03 G35C 5AT and love it. You can tell the car revs and accelerates quicker.

I personally would not use an under driven pulley, on a daily driven vehicle.

My friend had a 1999 Z28, Monsoon radio 450watts, with a UR pulley. Any time he valet the car he told them not to let the car idle. He explained he had under driven pulleys. On two occasions we had to jump start his car in the parking lot.

I used the UR pulleys on other vehicles, those of you who've never used UR pulleys on vehicles before have no idea the MINUTE amount of underdriving they do. It's so tiny the accessories aren't affected at all....and your friend with the Z28, if his car wouldn't idle, it wasn't the pulley causing the problem

I had close to 1000watts of amps pushing aftermarket speakers and subs, plus various extra electronics for engine management on a turbo motor, with a UR crank pulley, and never had any idle issues, lack of a/c or alternator problems.

There's a good thread over on freshalloy.com about the UR pulley, with some dyno figures....

here is the link:
http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthre...b=5&o=&fpart=1

again, it's a decent mod, nice gains etc...
Exactly what we've been seeing from this mod for a while now.
I'd expect the JKR pulley to be similar in gains as well.
