Default SES on/off

Guys,

I always had the SES on because of the stereo installed. It goes on when I turn the key. It goes off when the engine is running.

This past weekend, when I started the car up the SES goes on while the engine is running. It does that for just one day.

Btw, the day that the SES went on, I remember my exhaust rattles like a **** . I have an injen SES thats running for a good 10k miles.

Kcobean,

I don't have the code. Like I say, it lasted for one day. The SES still goes on when I turn the key (cause by the stereo installation), but it goes off when the engine starts.

Btw, I have 24k miles.

Hmm.....I think my SES light stays on all the time when the key is turned to the "on" position, too. I think that's normal behavior. so the light came on for a day and then went off huh? Weird. Not sure what to tell you, other than it might have been something to do with A/F ratio and the new exhaust.

the ses light will come on during that time of key on engine not running, as a test, so the operator will know the bulb is not blown. it is like a safety feature. not sure how long the stock ecu holds codes. but it should still be there and readable. that way you can find out what happened even though the light is currently not on. codes will usually be held in memory for a 100 starts or so.
