Default Wierd sound and a couple "hiccups" while downshifting

I was cresting a small hill in my neighborhood, going about 25mph when I downshifted from 3rd to 2nd (5AT). At this point, my car studders into second like gears weren't catching. What gives man, anyone else had this happen?

I have to decelerate to 20mph for a smooth 3>2 downshift....anything above that and I need to rev-match......

You shouldnt downshift from 3 to 2 because it automatically downshifts to 1st when you stop. It is okay to downshift 5 to 4 or 4 to 3, try to avoid 3 to 2 though. I remember theres a forum about this same case somewhere here, but you'll have to search for it.
