5 quarts of Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W-30 and an OEM Nissan 350Z Oil Filter with new copper drain bolt washer--do this EVERY 3000 miles religiously. Replace the air filter with an OEM Nissan 350Z Air Filter Element every 15K miles, religiously.

yeah ive used mobile one everytime i get an oil change and that has to be every 3000 miles. I notice the oil pressure always gets lower and lower around 3k. I see everyone is having the burning issue with mobile one. I may try royal purple and see how that acts. Can u buy royal purple from walmart?? and do u recommand keeping the weight the same 5w30 or is there a better formula

Mobil 1 5W30 in the 5qt jugs are around $20 at my local Walmart. If you want the most bang for the buck, that would be your choice.
Since I was one of the people to experience oil consumption, I recently switched to Redline oil inc tranny and diff. That stuff is pretty damn good even tho it was $6-7/qt. It's suppose to be long life too; 20k oil changes or something like that, but I still have to change the filter every 10k.

I have an 03 Enthusiast, my brother has an 03 Track. Both use Mobil1, my car does not consume oil, but my brother's does about 1 qt every 1-2k miles.
We both have similar driving habits. I am inclined to think that it has to do with the breaking in of the engine.

You guys need to understand the properties of the motor oil your buying before buying. If you have a fairly new car under 30k miles I would put 0W30 or 5W30, the first number is the weight of the oil when its cold, the last is the weight of the oil when its warm. Now if you have a average mile vehicle with 30k-60k I would recommend 10W30. For the higher mileage vehicles 60k plus I would recommend 10W40 or the extremely high 130k+ 20W50. Purchase oil according to your driving needs. Royal purple and Mobil 1 are the top two names people usually purchase. Good luck folks!

I've been running RP for probably around 30k miles now and wouldn't use anything else. Check out Bob Is the Oil Guy (it's a website) and you will learn alot about oil.

+1 10w40 tho, why does everyone use a synthetic motor oil? Just curious because i was told these motors dont need synthetic until you get higher mileage. It has something to do with the fact that its a known oil consumer engine and synthetic just burns off faster. Any info on that?

Mobil 1 is a full Group IV PAO synthetic oil. I use 0W-40 for daily driving and switch to a 15W-50 for the track. I lose less than half a quart on a 3000 mile oil change, and figure that to be in the filter. I think the consumption issues are def more to do with break in than brand of oil. There are lots of good brands to go with, Amsoil, Royal Purple, Redline, etc.. and there various weights have all been tested about a billion times for all types of different driving habits and engines on the oil drop, but Mobil 1 has always performed extremely well if not better than most with testing and as others have posted, is cheap comparitively. My .02 on this subject.

I was able to get several cases of Mobil-1 0w40 [european formula] free of charge, anyone know the difference in this and the standard Mobil-1 syn. I have yet to use it but am due a change right now but I'm sceptical.

Ive used Mobil 1 up until my most recent change when i switched to amsoil, then reason i switched was because i was so impressed by Amsoil's tranny and Diff fluid i felt they deserved my hard earned dollar for oil as well, and according to their tests (probably biased) it is better than mobil 1 (who still came out ahead of all other motor oil tested, but still behind Amsoil).

He lectured me so now I only run what they put in their customer's Z's.
My engine looses oil about 1qt a month. I don't know & can't say if it's because of the synthetic I used to run.

I bet you'll like it. Try Castrol 0-30 Synthetic also, look for Made in Germany
