i had my engine replaced due to oil consumption prior to going fi. while driving, watch your oil pressure. should not go <15 psi at idle when warmed up. when your oil level gets too low, your pressure will drop below 15 at idle and will jump around wildly under load. then your low oil warning light will come on.

hey toby another way to check for headgasket leak is to pop your radiator cap, as your coolant is flowing past see if you see bubbles. if theres bubbles its a head gasket. not all headgaskets leaks will show up in the oil, they could enter exhaust valve and just burn off, also is your car running hot? as almost always a blown head gasket will mean soaring temps.

Funny thing was last summer I only drove my z about 2k miles. My level dropped about 1 qt after about the first 1k. Looks like I am going to keep a close eye on my level this spring.
