I do see your point though about people confusing the two types of dynos, which is why I specifically mention it in my original post
I see your points, but for me I would rather know what I am putting down and what is actually moving me forward. If you put 15s on it then yes your rwhp would go up, probably do to less weight. Kinda similiar to dynoing without any wheels/tires.

Ya guys we have hit 290 rwhp if you convert that to crank HP at a 17 percent loss which is standard for our cars it is 349.4. Mike did hit 301 with all our stuff and previously mentioned mods on a Dyno Jet but he was not with me at the dyno 2 weeks ago. The mods he had at the time which have been previously stated included a bored eng 20mm over we have been trying to get the 300 without boring the eng. We are still working on it and now we think we need bigger exhaust cams.

Dynojet also compensates for the tire circumference.

People without cams and that are non rev-up are not going to come close 300 rwhp, unless the dyno is calibrated high, i.e stock dynos in the 250-260 range.

Here is a copy of Black Flag Jack's dyno......BEFORE he tweaked his A/F. Taken on Phunk's Dynojet.

He was running nitrous at the 1/4 mile strip but not when he hit 301 on the dyno.

im not sure but i think BJs car had 400 BHP and put something like 345 to the wheels NA! your talking about a purpose built race motor though still a stock VQ block revving to 7200, motec, cams, high comp pistons, rods, sleeves etc.

Which time are you referring to? He liked playing with a lot of nitrous on the 1/4 mile strip.

Is there even someone that has all the full bolt ons and cams with head work done and some kind of engine management system to tune everything? Because i believe that should get you over 300 whp.

Doug from Crawford Z has all that you listed, although his heads might be alittle to worked. He put down 290rwhp SAE corrected on a dynojet. But I believe that he will unlock the 300rwhp sometime in the future.

No the eng didn't blow up but the plenum and hood sure did when nitrous pooled up in the intake and he started the eng they had the switches backwards or something. I use that plenum for a door stop now.

Is Doug's car tuned with a engine management system? Because i really believe the mods that Doug has should put him over 300 whp if it is tuned right.

mjedens car dyno'd the 301 without nitrous....pure NA setup

I had the dyno at one point too...its somewhere in my archive of stuff

and yes, he did it without the benefit of on site programmable engine management...all in mailorder flashes over time - making it all the more impressive

I am shocked he hasn't hit 300 yet. He will soon, just a few more tweeks or so.

With the VQ I dont see why it's so hard to get to 300WHP, a lot harder than I would ahve imagined.

I dont understand why every one thinks 300 whp is NOT quite an accomplishment for a NA 3.5 liter motor. 300whp is 362bhp assuming a 17% loss, which is above the magical 100hp/liter number at 103, usually reserved for supercars. Only motors thats exceed 100bhp/liter NA are, bmw m engines, ferraris, the porchse gt3 motors. A standard 997 c2s 3.8 liter has 355bhp or 93.2bhp/liter. Even the best eurotuners have only been able to extract another 30 hp or so. Of course if you add a 1 or two blowdryers on any car, it changes everything, but were talking NA here.

Stock factory output from some of the finest (street, not race) motors below:

Ferrari 430, 4.3L, 480bhp = 111hp/L
BMW e46 M3(euro), 3.2L, 343bhp = 107hp/L
Porsche 996 GT3, 3.6L, 380bhp =105hp/L
Lambo Gallardo' 06, 5.0L, 520bhp= 104hp/L
BMW M5, 5.0L, 500bhp=100hp/L
Porshce 997s, 3.8L, 355hp =93hp/L
Aston Vanquish, 4.3L, 380hp= 88hp/L
Corvette z06 7.0L, 500hp/ =71hp/L

I think Doug would have easily hit the 300+ mark a long time ago, but don't forget he is trying to do it and still pass emissions so he hasn't gone too crazy with the cams.
