Kwame,

don't forget the first generation s2000... 2.0L with 237HP... that's 118.5hp/L

I also spoke to my tuner and he suggested that my engine has just at or slightly over 100hp/L now too

cheers,

richie

Dont forget the RSX Type S. 2.0L and puts out 210 HP. Thats 105HP per liter. Not bad for a car just over 20 grand. Not to mention how responsive these cars are to N/A mods. 130HP per liter and more is definitely possible.

Don't forget the car with the hp/liter record: Nissan SR16VE N1: 1.6 Liters, 197HP. That's 123 hp/liter.

The new rx-8 is really high. 238hp??? out of a 1.3 liter = 183 hp/liter.

The rx-8 is a rotory motor not a piston motor so I dont think that should count.
Porshce GT3 RSR - 3.6 liter, 445bhp, 124hp/L. Damn, 445 NA!!, But I think this is more of a race car than street and Im not sure if it runs 91 octane, probably 110+ octane with advance timing of a zillion degerees for race only.

Ya eat rice is wrong on the rx8...however I agree that a rotary shouldn't be included as it isnt a conventional engine type. On engine comparisons it usually goes into the 2.5-3.0 liter catagory.

Well we are now at 99.7 per liter we need to get to 103.1 just 3.4 more HP to go , so if you look at it that way it dosen't seem like much LOL, and yes we are trying to hit the 300 mark without throwing a CEL

While this is a good way to measure engine HP, I do not believe it is a very accurate way to measure WHP as your hubs are not what is putting the power to the ground....your wheels/tires are. This is why Dynojet and DynoDynamics are a better candidate for measuring WHP.

I will say this about the dynojet becuase it is the most widely used dyno and is pretty accurate. There is NO WAY to get 300rwhp on a dynojet without either seriously huge cams, higher CR, or a mix of both....period. This forum should be taken with a grain of salt, as a lot of it is not very accurate (some of it is accurate, but it just missleading and not explained). Take Doug's car for example. His car has some serious boltons along with some huge cams. Currently he is at 290rwhp and trying to touch the magical 300rwhp. If he wanted to he could go to a Dynopack dyno and he would far surpass 300rwhp, but the readings would not be the power being put down by the tires or to the actual ground. This all applies to the 287hp motor as no one has tried cams on the 300hp motor.

I am not saying you are wrong Gman, I was just using your link as an example.

So I guess you are in the camp that real men use dynojet?

If you are talking about cams for the 300hp motor. JWT cams will not work on the 300hp motor. Right now no one that I am aware of makes cams for the 300hp motor. You can not use 287hp cams on the 300hp motor because the 287hp cams will not bolt up to the CVT on the exhaust cams of the 300hp motor.

What about Nismo? They haven't released anything yet?

Ninja edit - We could probably use the Intake cams, but not the exhaust, right? Or are they completely different?

No, not at all. I am just sick of hearing about how so and so made 300rwhp when it is not accurate. As I said in my post, I was using dynojet as an example becuase that is the most common.
