Default Cams for '05 Rev-up Motor?

Has anyone heard anything about the development of cams for the mrev motor yet? I have read and heard nothing. I was told that Jim Wolf was working on some cams. I was also told that the Nismo cams work, either the exhaust of intake I don't remember. Let me know if you guys have heard anything that's affirmative. Performance Nissan guys???? Sharif?? SGP???

I'm sure the intake works, but not the exhaust because now they have timing advance on the exhaust side as well.

Yeah, it's the "cam phasing" that I have read about and it's on the exhaust side. Thanks for the quick response.

yeah so far only intake cams will work on the mrev motor. I talked to JWT but they were very rude about it and said they would get around to making them when they felt like it.

I think that the Nismo has released the S2 cams for the mrev in japan but im not sure yet.

I don't understand what is taking them so long. It's not like there isn't a lot of business to be had from the work put into it. There are plenty of mrev's out there.

Does that mean your car is still in pieces? You may have to go J-spec on the cams if you want them now. I have seen a little about some being available over seas. No US makers as of yet. Call JoTech out in Garland. I believe they have contacts in Japan. They may be able to source something out for you. You can also call Silviawerks in Houston as I believe they also have contacts in Japan. Maybe on the off chance, Ted at Scott Performance might be able to do a custom grind since he is doing it for the 287 guys.

intake cams will work, not sure how it would work with the new cam timing though...

the exhaust cams wont work since they do not have the little tabs sticking out of them for the exhaust cam timing... they just wont fit...

No one can make custom grinds either b/c the blanks are not available. I have tried everyone here and everyone in japan so unless something has come out since december then no one has anything that will work with the variable exhaust timing yet. You cant even machine the tomei(there cams have the needed ring on the end for the timing pick up its just not notched) exhaust cams to work b/c the journal spacing is different.

The only options is to have some made completely from scratch if it can be done.

I got tired of waiting and finaly just went with the stock cams for now.

Stock cams it is then.

TK, I am hoping it will all be together by the end of the month. A few things have still not been decided on. One of them being the cams. I was thinking about going with new heads and cams all together but that expense is just not worth it. 550whp will still be no problem, but it will take more boost to reach it.
