Hi guys im thinking on swaping my rear 3.3 differential for the manuals 3.5 rear differential. That i know of its like 1200 for a full swap.
My question is will this really make a difference in the 1/4 mile of lets say .4 or .5 drop of a second or is it going to be a differnce of .1.
Also I might get sponsored by a shop down here in miami. If you guys were in my place how would you like the sponsor to be like ( for example to give you free parts or 50 50 on parts free installs how many shows ect). Please post realistic fair terms for company and individual. Im asking this becouse im going to meet up with the owner of the shop tommorow and we r going to discuss this issue.

My previous best, with the 3.3 in my 5AT, I ran a 13.18@105.xx I think. This past weekend, with the conversion to the 3.5 pumpkin, I ran a 12.85@108.xx. I also relocated my air filter, but I dont think that helped.
BTW, I have a Vortech SC and am not N/A.

Everybody thinks they deserve to be sponsored-ask yourself 100% honestly-why are they sponsoring you? What are you bringing to their shop, their image with your car/what your doing with it-NOTE, not what you have planned, or think your gonna do, but you are realistically gonna achieve. Weather it be getting their name out in car shows or @ the dragstrip. When you figure out what your worth so to speak, then you can decide on what you think is fair in return...

ya it really depends on the level you are trying to achieve with your car. if you are looking to do a few bolt on's and wanting to get a deal on them, not many people are gunna want to work with ya. some sponsors, offering a full sponsorship to ya and doing parts and labor for free, will require you to do alot of traveling and do your very best for magazine coverage and such. in other words, you might not have many spare weekends or see your car much, lol.

Well i told him that im not really into the car show thing. I told him straight out that i wanted to represent them at the 1/4. I go to hangouts alot n not to brag or nothing but my car gets lots of attention, I said i would go to shows i dont mind but i would like to stay down here in miami i dont want to go all the way to orlando or nothing like that.
This is what he offered me cost price, free install, and free tuning. Now the tuning part i wont let them tune it unless they have experience tuning Z's.
Or if they sign a paper stating that if something goes in the motor they repair with no charge.
Now what he said i have to do is car shows and put his sticker in the car. Exactly how many shows i dont know.Tommorow im meeting with him to sit down and talk more about it.
But should i ask for better prices on parts or not. And my goal is to be the first automatic Z to break into the 10's which is logical. I know their is that 8.3 automatic Z but thats with aftermarket tranny i want to do it with the oem but upgraded internals of course.

I passed a sponshership request to my company. They were willing to give me 1 cent per attendee whith a minimum number of shows a season. They weren't intrested in the performance aspect of the car, just what kind of advertising they could make with it on the outside. After considering everything carefully, as in the cost to even get into some of the good shows (ie the cost to getting your car done up like Bam, Kelly, and a few others) vs the payout, time investment, etc, I just didn't like what it added up to.
Like alot of people said, when you get into a sponsership, its not just running around and having fun with someone throwing free parts at you. Even a sponsership where you race you have to get your name out, it takes alot of work. You have to consider how often your going to be at the track and what kind of strain it will put on your car, the travel time, etc etc. Just weight it all out carefully and think of everything thats associated with what your trying to do, then make the decision. Good luck which ever way you decide to go! Keep us in the loop!
