MAX POWER STD GEARBOX and DIFF WILL HANDLE ????
Hi There,
Interested to know what power the stock 6speed manual gearbox and diff will hold before BANG.....
My car is due out of the workshop next week and we are expecting 700-750 RWHP.....
The main focus is drag racing at this stage so slicks will be used also.
Any info will be greatly appreciated as there is no one in OZ making this sought of power.
Thanks for your input

Well, I am sure you will get more educated responses, but here is my understanding.
I have not heard of anyone mentioning having to change the gearbox because of too much power. A number of people have mentioned doing it to create a better power delivery mechanism, but not because of power loads.
As for the diff, I think most people in that power range have changed diffs and axles.
I am in process of a similar power build and we have not looked into any gearbox changes, only replacing the axles and diff.
Good luck and let us know how it goes..

Anthony,
Yes the Level 5 axles are roughly around $1300 - 1500. I am not sure, but that sounds about right. DriveshaftShop just finished making some, so they should have some in stock if you are interested in picking them up now.
AAM can arrange drop shipment to anywhere and can also give you any info you might be interested in regarding concerns about your power level.

perf nissan was running the nismo lsd w/ upgraded half shafts on their 8 second 1/4m Z. Although I remember it being an auto, but not sure if they swapped out the tranny with something else... But I've never heard of issues with the diff/tranny before either.
Thanks for that info guys, yeah i have a twin plate clutch already built for the Z.
I have also contacted sharif @ forgedinternals and ill proceed with the order from him.
So what auto transmissions do you guys run over there? specs, brand e.t.c.
Thanks again
