Default 350Z FInal Drive = R200V correct?

Just wondering why most are upgrading to the R200V with the 3.9 final drive? Why is nobody using the R200V from the NA 300ZX or the JDM S13 or S14? The R200V from the NA 300Z is a 4.083 Final drive, is that just overkill? A more difficuilt swap? Or am i just completely wrong with my information.

I dont think you would need a whole new tranny. But i am no expert!

Here is a list of Nissan Final Drive Trans Models:

Notice the 240sx and 350Z both have the R200V listed.

"Not the same" - please go into detail. Is it something that can be modified to fit?!

R200 is the model of diff. Not the part number. As an example, it's like asking if a VQ35 from a Maxima will work in the Pathfinder, or the Z, etc... just because it's a VQ35. Maybe, but not without modifications. One possible issue with different diffs might be wheel sensors for the speedo to work, or pinion placement, or any number of things that vary from one application to the next.

Historically, many of the RWD R200 diff internals all swapped our and interchanged.

Its like saying the internals of the Pathfinder, Maxima, or the Z (pistons, etc.) will work with each other.

If somebody wants to send an old diff to our shop, we have plenty of R200's with 4.083 gears in it that we can test out and compare. We even have a couple of 4.63 Nismo gear sets here as well.
