How much power is supposed to be gained with the JWT ECU?

I hope they do, but I don't have much confidence in JWT. I mean, check out their website, they still have "NEW" product tags on items that came out 3 years ago!!

Default Yes!!!

It is true!!! It will be out soon,..I hears about this Right as the Z was commin out for sale!!!!!!

It will be an estimated 20-30Crank HP I promise,...someone was speakin to a rep of JWT and even Tyepd the entire phone call w/ him,...can't remember where I read the post,.might not have neen on here though!!!

it will raise the rev limit to an even 7K and adjust the Fuel and Timing maps as well.....Basically like HONDATA but for the Z.It is a OBD III car so its only a matter of time before its released!!!

I have "heard" this from a bunch of people---claiming 310hp to the crank!!!! Claimed-maybe more.

The JWT ECU plus POP charger increased the 300ZX NA by 22 HP. So I believe it for a 287 HP car. Of course it needs some sort of intake like the POP charger or CAI to take advantage of the ECU remapping improvements.

Hmnnnnnn....... I hope you're right though.

Victor
I read an article somewhere that stated that the ECU is the key to unlocking hp in the 3.5 VQ. In the older 3 liters it was the y-pipe that caused the greatest restrictions.

those of us with RSX's and the Hondata flash are gettin about 18HP with it. 23 doesnt sound too unreasonable to me.

23 HP is totally reasonable. I was looking at getting a chip for the '83 BMW 533i that I am getting and it gives you 24 hp/ 29 lbs. ft. torque. They have a chip for the M5 which also has a 3.5L (Might be 3.8L) making 286 hp stock, and with their chip it makes and extra 48 hp! That is on a car with very similar displacement and power levels and was also tuned well from the factory, so I don't see why the Z wouldn't be able to make 23 more HP from a chip.

I have talked directly to Jim Wolf. The ECU will not be out until close to the end of the year. He is busy right now designing cams and flywheel for Nissan. He is making the parts for Nissan Motorsports which will be equizilent to Japan's NISMO for USA owners. Jim is going to make a more aggressive cam that he will be selling under his own name. I didn't not get a chance to ask if he was working on a nitrous kit, but i have a feeling that will come once the code is cracked for the ECU.

thanks,
Greg

Yep, your right!

The ECU is far from release .
Major problems reprogramming. The memory is built into the processors so there is no chip replacement. Must flash using consult II or some other Nissan compliant ODB II hardware. Realize that the 1996 300zxTT ecu has never been cracked. Very close to the same deal. There are plenty of smart people working on it but without nissan's help it has been slow.

What do you mean? My 300ZX TT had a custom ECU programmed by Jim Wolf at: http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/ecu.htm

Your right. Im still living in 2001. I should have said it took 4-5 years to crack. I wanted a modded 96 so bad for so long but there was noting there. None the less, we will have a ecu someday. I do think NISMO is holding out on us! I am wondering if that will be the first mod they push when NISMO gets here???

Not really exactly relevant, but I really like the idea of the multimode programming you can get with the VW 1.8T computers done by APC. Just do something fancy with the cruise button, and you can change from a stock mode to a 100 octane mode, a valet mode, or an anti theft mode.

Pretty cool.

Hmmmm....you sure?

I was talking with JWT about ECU's on Thursday of last week and he didn't seem to know about a code for the 96TT's. The "money" isn't there yet, not enough cars on the street to offset the costs of developing. This has been the problem all along for the 96TT guys, not enough aftermarket support for the R&D required to re-write a complete OBD-II compliant code.

There is of course complete code for 90-95, but not 96. I actually have code that is not off the shelf from JWT for my 94TT--Border 850's,dual POP and 7850 rev limiter. There is no shortage of "coders" there, but the money has to be there to even get into it.

There will be code out for the Z33, but not real soon. There most likely will never be code out for the 96TT.....just not enough money to make it worth his while.

Done by APR, not APC. And GIAC has had a remote operated program switching module on the horizon for months (years) but are having difficulties with FCC regulations. A few of them made it to consumers before they were stopped. Very good idea, so long as it's done safely
