Although i am still on the deciding process of camshafts(Tomei 268 and i'll be calling Cosworth soon for their specs) i am also in quest of finding titanium valves.
I see Nismo sells those pieces but the description clearly states they are for use only with the Nismo heads. Can i use these on modified OEM heads? Can my machine shop machine them to fit or be compatible with my built OEM heads?
Or what other options do i have?

Ti valves...nice...but what for? Are you planning on reving your engine beyond 9000rpm? Doesnt look like Ferrea has Ti valves as a shelf part, but you could probably have a set custom made.
The cost will be astronomical.

If I am not mistaken, I remember reading somewhere that Titanium valves need to be replaced every 10,000 miles or something like that. i don't remember why but I read it in the thread with the one guy with the huge NA build up from Australia I believe who has every NA part possible.

The Ti valves that are used in the Nismo 46cc heads are the OE VK45 Ti valves & are good for the life of the motor under normal opperation.
They are very inexpensive compared to custom Ti valves from the likes of Del West.
The problem is that the inlet valve is 1mm smaller than stock. The exhaust will fit straight in.
But as Sharif has pointed out, why? unless you intend to run a completely redesigned intake & cam spec that will allow the motor to make power past

Tilley on the max org uses them on his vq 35 (same heads as 350z)the vk 45 TI valves.
They put them in a stock car that revs to only 7k for a reason. when tilly put them in the 3.5 he noticed a huge diff he reported.
i dont know for sure how he did it but hes using them and theres multiple posts on max org about it.

The VK45 inlet valves will not fit a stock VQ35 head But will fit straight in a VQ30 head. The VK45 Ex valve will fit both heads

Zexy,
If the intake valve is already 1mm smaller than the stock valve, I reckon there might be no chance for us to fit those valves in the VQ35 heads because you will have a huge leak there though...
I was thinking about doing the same thing, but went for Ferrea valve train kit
cheers,

BTW: Richie, kind of off topic but have you heard anything on the Microtech full standalone? It's way less expensive than the Motec and some local guys here in Orlando are dealers.. They worship the system and are experts at tunning it. They used it on some of Central Florida's fastest cars.
They also say it has full control of VTC but other functions of the car controlled with the ECU may be eliminated such as power windows, AC, etc? What functions have you lost with the motec that does not have to do with the motor?
Zexy,
I also heard that Microtech computer is an another good affordable aftermarket stand alone computer too, but I personally don't have any experience on that product, so I cannot tell you how good/bad they are...
With my motec computer, I lose NOTHING of my standard feature at all... still have VDC, cruise control, A/C, power window.... everything you name it... dealer can still check the car condition with Consult II without any problem as well... no check engine light lit up normally (if there is, it means you have something faulty in the system as what it supposes to tell you normally on the stock standard car)...
So the car basically works as how it should from the factory and that's what I am after and that's why I went for motec back then (when other stand alone ecus weren't available yet)...
cheers,
richie

The VK45 titanium valves worked fine with some work to the heads. I did all the work myself i just had to cut down the valves a lil. The car revs great and i got over 2500 miles on it since install.

The stock VQ35 cylinder head has a inlet valve with a head dia of 37mm
The VK45 Ti valve has a head dia of 36mm. The stem lengths are the same + or - a few thou.
Now how did you cut down a 36mm valve to fit a 37mm valve seat?
The only thing I can think of is that is 36mm may just fit & be seating on inner edges of the 37mm insert.

They are smaller and dont fit perfect but do work and do seal (36mm valve in 37mm seat).
