Lightbulb Nismo Turbo kit

Well I was minding my own buisness reading the new issue of sport compact car when I saw something interesting on page 162. It was talking about the new age of turbos by garrett and they gave off a list of kits that will utilize the new tubro. One of these was "350z/g35 turbo kit in developed by nismo" Something to that general effect. Anywase I thought you might all find that interesting. Their webpage is www.turbobygarrett.com I couldn't find anything on the site but it isn't full up either. This could be interesting. At least we know that a 350z turbo kit by nismo will be using garrett turbos.

that would be cool, since nismo is doing it when nissan dealerships here start carrying their products they could install them and also have to honor our factory warranties. hmmmm....another turbo car.

Okay, this could get me off the fence. Did they give any more information on it?

Default interesting

Would be interesting if NISMO did indeed offer a turbo, do we have any idea when they will offically start selling NISMO parts through the dealership, last I heard was March sometime...?? - I am imagining it will have to be bought and installed at the dealership for the warrenty to remain valid, so that will cost a few bucks no doubt!

While this will be a nice option for those who are worried about warrenty (if this is even covered), it will probably cost much more than other aftermarket kits. And probably the only way they that the warrenty wont be voided is by nissan doing the install, which is goingto cost even more $$$.

Also I've been waiting for nismo for about 1 year now...and Im still waiting. I was told they were coming out with perf. parts last june/july, and now its this march/april. If you are set with this, you might very well be waiting at least another year.

I plan to wait for it. Concerning price, I'm guessing that a NISMO turbo kit would do less damage to the car's resale value than a third party aftermarket kit.

No more info than what I said before. I would try to contact garrett though, maybe they will spill the beans.

Last I heard, NISMO will be offering "on road" mods and "off road" use only mods. The assumptions about warrentees above are that the turbo kit will be an "on road" mod. If I had to bet money right now, I would bet that the kit (if its released at all in the US) is going to be tagged as "off-road" use only, and would not be covered under warrentee.

Come on NISMO, prove me wrong!

im sure itll be expensive and theyll probably wanna sell you everything nismo to make it "safe". not to mention superchargers can get just as much hp as turbos in "stock" form. but you can upgrade the turbo for extreme power. you cant to that if you relying on a warrenty.

That makes a lot of sense, I some how can't see a turbo kit being covered under warrenty! It is a shame though, but the cost would probably be prohibitive anyway!

I think NISMO would sell more units if they CARB certify it. They could probably come up with some kind of limited warranty with escape clauses for owners who abuse the equipment (e.g. not following cool down procedures, changing the boost, etc).
