Default quick question on how much hp running the AC drains

is it a static amount or a %?

I remember someone who was NA dynoed with it on by mistake once and showed a 8whp loss than having it off.

for people running FI, is the AC still draining 8whp or so, or would it be a nigher number because there's more power?

I'm thinking it's a static amount right?

Actually the A/C disconnects when you are in WOT.

we've tested a few cars on the dyno for ****s and giggles with and without the AC on and it's about 8-10hp drain when the AC is on.

Common sense should answer the question of static vs. %.

Matter of whether the compressor speed is linear with the drive belt or a relatively constant compressor speed with some internal gear reduction occuring.. Do you know ?

What would a straight or gear reduced compressor have to to with a percentage power loss?? It might make a difference in power loss at different RPM, but not at different power levels. (which is what the poster was asking) The compressor isn't going to care how much power the car is making @ 4000 rpms, be-it 250hp or 450hp.

the reason I brought it up is with a supercharger, it might not be anything - have to do a back to back test, but it seems like the AC on makes a more noticable difference than before when I was NA - might just be in my head though

We frequently dyno with the AC on, and the windows up. Both to listen for detonation, and also to save our ears! Believe it not, with turbo cars, I have never seen a decrease in power with the AC on.
