RPM at startup
2006 base totally stock jumps immediately to 2000RPM at startup and then down to about 1850RPM and then after 1 1/2-2 minute warmup idle is down to normal approx 780RPM.
It seems strange to me that RPM is so high right at startup when there is little oil in engine and then the normal idle could be considered almost too low. I realize it is going to be somewhat higher at startup but isn't this just engine wear that is not nescessary?

this is about what mine does. usually jumps to around 1500-1600 for the first couple of seconds after startup. Then will fall back to 800 or so...then starts to rattle away due to the Vortech S/C. But oh yeah, that rattle is normal for a Vortech! I really do hate the noises the S/C makes. Back to your comment: I have had several cars that idle higher when first started, then dropped after a few seconds. (F150, Broncos)
Nissan engineers - they are smarter than you. Read the owner's manual and stop worrying about every noise you hear, every gauge/needle you see, and every vibration you feel.

Honestly, my 35th Anniversary jumps to around 2500 EVERY time I start it cold, and then slowly comes down. I seriously doubt there's anything wrong with this startup sequence. Most of my cars have always done it, from day one. If you're concerned, call the dealership, it's still under warranty, right?
