Question Transmission oddity

'06, 6 speed, 4,000 miles

I have this oddity in 6th gear. If I'm rolling along in 6th gear and I let off the gas, the stick jerks forward slightly. The jerk is not noticible to the eye, but I always rest my right hand on the stick, and I can feel it jerk forward slightly every time. This only happens in 6th gear, and it is 100% reproducible. I am honestly scared that it will jerk forward enough to take me out of 6th gear.

What's your opinion on what could be causing this?

What's your opinion on what I should do about it?

That doesn't sound like a proble. I get that too; it's just a reaction to the slight change in speed which in turn gets the vibrations transmitted through the drivetrain. Not something to worry about!!

Every Z I've owned has done that.

I have the same thing happening to me. I have it in more than just 6th gear though. My DD Celica does similar things when cruising around too. I think this is normal tranny tendencies.

It's normal. The synchros tighten together when you accellerate in turn pulling the stick into gear... and loosen a little when you decel which moves a little towards neutral. Every manual trans car I've ever driven has done this. It's normal.
