Transmission oddity
'06, 6 speed, 4,000 miles
I have this oddity in 6th gear. If I'm rolling along in 6th gear and I let off the gas, the stick jerks forward slightly. The jerk is not noticible to the eye, but I always rest my right hand on the stick, and I can feel it jerk forward slightly every time. This only happens in 6th gear, and it is 100% reproducible. I am honestly scared that it will jerk forward enough to take me out of 6th gear.
What's your opinion on what could be causing this?
What's your opinion on what I should do about it?

That doesn't sound like a proble. I get that too; it's just a reaction to the slight change in speed which in turn gets the vibrations transmitted through the drivetrain. Not something to worry about!!

It's normal. The synchros tighten together when you accellerate in turn pulling the stick into gear... and loosen a little when you decel which moves a little towards neutral. Every manual trans car I've ever driven has done this. It's normal.
