Tomorrow morning I am due in Performance Motorsports in LI to swap my rear pumpkin (my car is 5AT) for one from the 6MT car. There will not be any lights popping up, right? And my speedometer will still work, right?
I know that this will be beneficial, but just to know what to expect...

Speedometer will be fine. It's a stock pumpkin with the 3.538 ring gear? I wouldn't expect any issues whatsoever, I believe the cruise control issue only arises when you use the 3.917 on the 5AT.
However I would venture a guess you will experience a smile every time you accelerate.

This is going to be a VERY long night...
The cruise will work till the ECU see's it isn't in the right rpm for the speed you are going . ANd if you hit the brakes to slow for traffic it will not reset the speed and will not work again till you turn the car off and restart .
You looking to sell the 3.3 rear ? If its a LSD I would be interested in it .

I am having a shop do it tomorrow morning. It's the anticipation that's killing me.
I am getting back to the project after an almost 18 month pause (was buying a home)

Zivman is doing the same (he's the one I'm trading with). With the whp you guys are throwing around, you may still have a chance at using your first couple of gears with a 5AT rear.
No cruise control issues here either. The speed sensors are on the stub axle flanges anyhow so changing the gears will not effect the sensors.....just the rate at which the flanges rotate past the sensors. It's a very similar set-up to an ABS brake design.

Just got home from the shop. Here are my impressions:
The car does not feel all that different in normal driving. MPG did not seem to be drastically affected. The cruise control works fine. I don't know if it has to do with the battary being disconnected during the process. The car pulls harder and gets to 115-120 mph range much more willingly, and seems more comfortable in that range before. (theoretically speaking of course
).
All in all I am pleased.
Another thing that I have noticed is that the tach flies to 4K at 70mph effortlessly as soon as the gas is touched. This may be a good compliment to an TN ST kit (that's assuming that I will go FI).
Next stop; VALVE BODY!

Glad you like the gears . Cruising at 70 , the rpm's are around 3 or 4 hundred more .

The only thing I can think of is that there was a clearance issue between a speed sensor and the teeth on the sensor ring causing intermittent signal loss to the ecu. If this were the case, then the ecu might not throw a code but would not let cruise engage either.
