Has any one on here put a skyline motor in their 350z? I just got my rb26dett for my Z. I have some questions for anyone that can help me on this.

Ya I was going to do the NA thing, but i couldn' t pass up this deal i got on the rb26 motor. I think i am going to rebuild my VQ motor with lower compression pistons and sell it on here.

There have been a few who have done it. One of the main issues with using this motor is where/how it fits in the engine bay. The inline 6 makes it very long and extend pretty far into the firewall.

One individual in Miami has go the swap done. He was on these forums before but not anymore. I'm sure there are a couple of people around the states with the swap.

In terms of getting the swap done, whoever plans and builds the venture to manufacturer harnesses and mounts for the RB on the Z33 is in for a nice chunk of change but getting that custom done is very pricey.

But if you got the RB for a great price and got money left to spend...Go for it.

Oh nice, you're on the forum. I have a couple of Q's.

1) How much did the entire swap cost including fabrication?

2) So far from what i understand you had to have the mounts, wiring harness, and driveshaft custom done, what else?

3) Any fitment issues on the engine bay?

4) What in car controls( AC, PS, power windows) did you sacrifice with the swap?

5) Is your car on this video? :
http://videos.streetfire.net/search/...D3FCD8B56B.htm

6) Have any pics of the swap?
Thanks!!!!!

what I wanna know is why would someone want to do this?
I understand the RB is more upgradable but is it worth it?
with the money you would spend on the swap coudnt you just F/I your car and some? is there a weight diffrence or is this just braging rights?
im not trying to sound like a butt head but im really confused on this swap? if the plus of it is getting AWD then ill understand but I here its alot of $$$$$ just to make it RWD as a swap. plz someone explaine I do know the Rb engines are way reliable and can produce monster HP but coudlnt you do the same with the cash you would have spent on the swap and beef up the VQ?

AWD conversion will get expensive but some people know people or simply would spend the extra money on it. Better platform, better sound, bulletproof swap, and reliable boost for less than 15k+ which is needed for the VQ. Plus an RBed Z will bring more of a crowd than a turboed VQ.

I would personally ditch the VQ for an RB anyday and pay a couple extra thousand.

So to answer your question..It's for personal preferance.

just give it time the vq will be a better motor than the RB26 bc there's no replacement for displacement. The potential of the VQ motor is quite high so just give it some time and you'll see.
