Mine was written off, it was repaired and inspected and is a car according to government. It drives straight, turns like normal, pulls like a normal 350Z and sounds like a normal 350Z. :P

Don't hate me cuz I'm cheap.

i honestly dont see why a dealer would ask to see registration when taking it in for repairs, maybe if you where trying to replace a set of lost keys to verify owner and vin.

Nobody hates you, just trying to answer your original question.

The hardest thing about fixing it was pulling a dent out from underneath the passenger side skirt, that metal is strong as hell. We had to weld a tab onto it to pull out the dent. (not that we had to, it was just cosmetic.)
How did it come out as a salvage title then? I can't even see an estimator at a bodyshop coming up with parts and labor that an insurance adjuster would sign off on for a totalled car. Are you sure you're not missing something?

We're not sure why, I think the shop that estimated the damage used parts from the dealer given prices. I bought stuff off here at maybe 1/5 the cost, It cost me roughly $3000 CDN for all the parts/paint. (all original OEM stuff)

The shop that estimated it said there was a bent cross member.. we didn't see a bent cross member lol.

They estimated it would have costed $20,000 CDN to fix.. so they wrote it off.

Rebuild.......or swap out the engine. If it's a rebuild....make sure the block is sound, no micro cracks anywhere then rebuild from there....might as well if it's already stripped bare. If you want cams, pistons, valves etc... that's the time to throw'em in. If you just wanna go the simpler route, swap it but you'll be asking for more power later on so i say rebuild......
