3.917 gears
what were the transmission gear ratios for those old muscle cars?
the final drive gear ratio is one thing, but what's important is your total gear ratios when multiplied with the transimssion gears.
I have serious doubts that any old muscle car had a 6 speed close ratio gear set

All this talk of .2-.4 faster down the 1/4, has anybody with a 6MT even proven this? Theoretically of course its possible, Im not denying it, I just think its funny how newbs say their mods give them XXX and when they go try it they run on par with others.
No clue on that one, but your probobly right. The drivers mood will affect gas mileage more than anything.

Even if the 1/4 time change is negligable, I'm really interested in the other numbers. If the acceleration rate is positively affected, trap speeds should be lower even if the overall time remained the same. If its due to time lost from the extra shift, the 1/8 and 330' should show a marked improvement if not the 1000' as well.
If somebody wanted the fastest drag car, they should be optimizing gearing / tire heights to complete the run at peak power in 3rd. Going to the 3.917 is not going to accomplish that.
I know CC is gone until I can find a fix. To me, its a worthy trade-off for the overall gain of the gearing. Also, if you're going to consider a LSD, its the time to do it when you swap gears. I'm doing a Quaife at the same time since the ring gear surrounds the differential. Why do the same work twice?
+1 on cruise control working. Though I think some people have messed their cruise control up with their own setup - seems like it involved autos. Not sure what else was involved though, maybe it was some weird mismatched diameter tire sizes?
