Default KNOCK question!!!

If your knock sensor is bad. What effect would it have on the car's function?

Would it make it turn but not throw spark?

Knock sensor usually pulls timing when it detects knock. I'm unclear exactly what you are proposing, but if shouldn't have any affect on the car starting if thats what you're getting at.

Problem Solved!!! Car wouldn't start because of bad timing. Got it timed and runs well.

Funny thing is... the car now only rins with the crank sensor unplugged!?

Then it sounds like it was and is bad . Go buy another one and plug it in and see if it runs with it plugged in.

Check for damage to the reluctor wheel that the CKPS reads. Also check the wires and the pins in the connector for the sensor.

And a bad knock sensor will retard the ignition timing ALOT, make the car really sluggish in the lower RPM band, and turn on the check engine light.

Default Ckps

when you say check the wheel. YOu mean the rim of the flywheel that the CKPS reads?
