Default My Dyno numbers (G35).....very interesting numbers

So today I had 3 Dyno pulls and had very interesting results. First please see my Signature for a list of the current mods on my 6 spd REV-UP G. Now today was pretty good weather at about 78 degrees when the 3 pulls were done. I just finished the header install and did the dyno pulls, I didn't get a chance to reset the ecu and or let the ecu "learn" the new headers. So keep in mind these pulls were done in 3rd gear and on a new DynoJet machine without a fan. Guess the shop was still waiting for the fan to be delivered.

247.23 HP and 279.23 TQ

I am guessing the lack of fan and my 19x10.5 Volks arn't helping my numbers too much.

I will reset my ecu and try to get another set of Dynos run with a fan this time and see how that goes. As far as air to fuel to looks to be around 15.75 and drops to as low as 13.25 closer to redline.

John

Geez, that TQ seems high for the HP. But I'd be quite happy with that if it was me.

Yea i agree at first I didn't believe my eyes but all 3 runs the TQ was 278-279ish. However after looking at the dyno chart it looks like the TQ spiked near redline and so the TQ may be off the mark. Before the spike the TQ seemed to hover near 249.

The TQ spike is from the car not being strapped down properly.

Why the fawk do you dyno in 3rd gear on a 6 speed? I hate stupid shops. Should of been 5th for real numbers, or 4th to get close to ideal numbers...

Yup, you gotta get as close to 1:1 as possible.

Your boys at altered dyno in 3rd gear..
And yet another off topic usefull post by the Great ALBERTO.. This has nothing to do with a TQ spike in his chart, most likely he experienced some roller slippage..

I dunno what they were doing when you used their dyno but my car has never been dyno'd in 3rd. Througout a dyno day they used 4th and 5th. Even if they did in 3rd, it doesnt add 80whp to the actual numbers like MRC and their funky corrections

you can really dyno in any gear as long as you use the same gear consistantly...

some places dont like doign it in 5th gear because they dont want to run the car at 140+ MPH... risk blowing a motor etc...

most do 4... some do 3rd but then you usually get traction issues on the rollers...

Altered ANCIENT dyno does not allow them to go above a certain speed, therefore they do ALL their dyno's in 3rd gear, son..Do a search and you will see like 80% of people that have had their car tuned at Altered, did it in 3rd gear..
Perhaps Noah can shed some light on the situation since he worked there..

I dont care what you THINK. On a dyno day with 20+ Z/G's being dyno'd they used 4th, UNLESS you wanted a 5th gear pull. Sure it has a speed limit but iits not as low as 142mph which is redline in 5th on a standard motor. I know for a fact they took 2 Revups to 5th gear @ 7000rpm. We must have seen different things who really cares-you just had to start a stupid little argument. Agree to disagree....

Looks like Noah confirmed what I also believed and experienced at AAM. 4th-Gear pulls...

Can we get back on subject now?

Tire slip would cause a power and trq loss..not a spike. My guess is that the third gear pull resulted in more trq, and less whp. Do it again in 4th or 5th, and the results will be more mainstream.

I had the Z dyno'd once in 3rd and it pulled higher TQ numbers than it did HP, but not by that margin...
