My point is that NA Gains will be extremely difficult with the new VQ-that's what that means. Please tell me the best way to extract power from bolt-ons.

That's how it's always been. Even with the present VQ35DEs. What's your point.

There is power to be extracted if somebody does a full NA buildup with light internals, high compression pistons, and upgraded camshafts.

I can't wait until somebody gets this done on the new HR. If some guy pulled off 350whp imagine what this can do with such an upgrade on internal design

The current VQ does not have equal length headers or a dual exhaust-so at least there is some potential there. Test pipes, dual pop-chargers, & a pulley is the only thing that is going to give the new VQ a little extra kick. When did light internals, high compressions pistons, and upgraded cams become boltons?

Why the Hell Not? They are bolt on, Just a lot more bolts to play with.

I asked what the best way to extract power from bolt-ons was, and your response was light internals, high compressions pistons, and upgraded cams

That's not a 1 sec drop, but if you consider drivetrain loss, it is still respectable. I'm sure the Z might make it sub 5 sec.
So how fast were G35s? I never really paid much attention but I would have guessed mid to low 6 since the Z was usually around mid to high 5.

My question, however, was limited to bolt-ons. Let's not worry about it!

One of the pages in the presentation regarding increased fuel efficiency mentioned reducing the weight. I wonder if they reduced weight just in the engine or at various places all over the car. Seems like the new engine would actually weigh more with all that extra bracing, increased height, etc. Regardless, less weight is less weight. While I'm skeptical, I'd be happy to see the car lose a few pounds.

The nice thing is this engine will be more boost friendly ( forged rods ) good stuff. Might have to trade in my 03 model

I cant either

And i think nissan is doing the right thing to Spark interest in the new engine. By making the new engine stronger, we will see alot of people trading in their current 350z's for the newer stronger engine. You can add boost to it with out the fear of blowing it up and with out building the motor. Unless you want crazy power.

Now we have a engine that can take around 400hp to the wheels. This one seems like it can handle close to 600hp to the wheels. Good stuff

I love advances in technology
