Question Need Advice...Oil Filter

Does anyone have any opinions about the K&N oil filter for the Z? I am changing my oil and wanted to know if there were any pros and cons w/ getting an aftermarket oil filter, or is it all the same as OEM? Which do you guys recommend?

Also, I have heard good things about Royal Purple, so i am probably going to be using that as well...thanks

Remember, if you go the OEM route, make sure its part# 15208-9E000. At my local dealer they ran 5.50 each. Get a new copper washer also, $0.75 each.

I've heard bad news about FRAM filters in the past, I couldnt find a K&N filter for the Z locally, and everyone on here tends to stick with the OEM filter. Its a small little bugger too.

I put a K&N on mine when I switched over to synthetic a few months ago. Is there a difference? Eh...I have no clue, I've checked my oil often and it's what I expect, normal. Next time I change it I'll pull the filter and look at it. I'm not expecting any major difference or impact either way.

I have been using K&N filters on all my cars for the last 12 years with no problems whatsoever. I like them quite a bit.

Default PE Oil Filter

I would like to also recommend using Power Enterprise oil filter, it's got a magnet at the center of the filter to collect any metallic particles that may circulate the motor, especially useful when breaking in an engine.

be careful, Royal Purple's regular synthetic oils tend to thin out a LOT over 3k miles or so........I wouldn't use it unless you're using their race synthetic.

Mobil 1 has been fine with me, and the turbonetics oil has had great reviews.

I also use K&N oil filters, they tend to flow a larger quantity of oil per x time than most other filters and still filter very well. Fram=crap. I haven't heard much about mobil1 filters, I'm sure they're fine.

Have you ever noticed any metal shavings on the magnet for the PE filter? I would imagine that the filter element itself would filter out metal particles so not certain about its utility...
