Default 1 piece driveshaft???

I know our cars are a little new to have u joint issues but, has anyone done this or priced it out?
I know u joints and center bearings are not serviceable and even though this is an apples to oranges comparison, I looked at a BMW today that had bad u joints. The shaft was $1500 from the dealer.
I figure an aluminum one piece shaft would be more stable at speed and lighter. Or how about a Carbon Fiber driveshaft???

The g35 has a two piece aluminum driveshaft b/c of the longer wheelbase. The engine and most of the drivetrain are the same but not everything.

When I tell people I have a carbon fiber driveshaft they dont believe me and have to look and see for themselves, I cant understand why nissan would do something like this other than save a little weight.

In a front end collision, the engine is pushed into the transmission tunnel and some of the energy is designed to be absorbed into the disintegrating drive shaft.

lol yeah I remember when I took my Z to a certain shop, the tech pointed at the driveshaft and was like "wow this piece is really nice, how much was that?"

"it came with the car"

along with a LOT of other bad judgements that were made with my emanage ultimate install by that shop, I concluded the tech's there didn't know the Z very well

Yeah but 350z driveshaft is too short for a g35.

how much lighter was that custom CF driveshaft compared to the stock aluminum G35 one?

Anyone know how much the CF/steel reinforced driveshaft on the Z weighs?

I think taking 10 lbs off the flywheel will make buttloads more difference than 10 lbs off the driveshaft because of the diameter - same as 20 inch wheels are slower than 15 inch wheels

Ive been meaning to weigh them but I havent had the chance yet. The shipping weights were twice as much for the stock driveshaft IIRC.

Iv pulled so many ---but never weighed it -----But its scarey lite, Has to be less than 13 Lbs.
Kinda Apples and Oranges on the Flywheel/Driveshaft deal. F/W is more of an inertia thing--Less weight,Less inertia,Faster response.
Drive shaft situation I think is more of a Hi-Tech/Less curb weight deal.
Plus and Minus on inertia would be IMO non existant
