i don't want to read this entire thread.....
can anyone fill me in on what the dealerships are doing to fix the oil consumption problems in the 06s? i would appreciate it greatly.

Other then that, have them do three consumption tests and file a final repair notice, if that is the number of attempts in your state. At that point, they will certainly replace the engine with the new one.

If they simply swap the engines after the first consumption test, then that would be the first repair attempt. That is where it gets interesting. If they do that and it still consumes oil, then they still have 2 additional attempts. Not sure what they would do during that time though.

Thank you for the information.

Please add to and or fix this post as needed. This is from what I gather from the posts above so far.
Known V2 install recipients and their results:
1) Dbasal - maybe not fixed.
2) Theatrix - not known (I've PM'd asking for results)
3) RBlover - see above
4) 4Shizzil - appears to be complete success!!!
5) Zmaximus - still consuming
6) Antennahead - still pending
Please update as needed or chime in!

Okay, upon getting the V2 as we all know i broke it in with a typical break in grace.Kept it under 4k no speeding at all and really just babied her for about 1500-2k. After that i opened her up and noticed 2 things. One this engine is more responsive then my previous one. I thought it was the placebo effect but.this is my daily driver and not my first Z ...and especially down low it feels more responsive is the only word i can use to describe it . Im gettting it baselined again over my previous dyno just to make sure. But this engine is quieter then my previous revup , no longer here the ticking noice in my garage until further dynos are done alot more livily in the lower rpm range. Up top the revup always had a good top end so, its really hard to tell since the damn engine was designed for top end power.
I had 3 oil changes 2 of them where supplied by nissan using dyno oil and my 3rd one i gave her 0w40 mobile 1 euro blend based on outstanding reviews from resolute and blackstone via vq35 oil analysis testing showing it to be a great oil for this engine. Also mated that to the a better micron synth filter. And so far 3rd oil change no loss at all. After this synthetic test after around 3k. I still change my oil at 3 k no matter what. It will be the last time i check it . And if shes still at H with some spirited driving , im done with oil issues. I honeslty wanna get to my goal to getting 300rwhp with the revup. 290 is where there at now and alot fo us should try to reach there with tuning. This oil thing has really put a hinder on that so. Hopefully by putting the same oil on my 3rd oil change that meets insane standards that ow40 meets in the racing world. I can rid myself finally of these issues and move onto mods. SO so far no oil issues and happy finally revving to 7k
baseline coming soon.

V2 isn't the answer. Talked to a Nissan Master Tech today. He's one of the members of 350zen.org. Said Nissan still hasn't come up with a permanent fix. In fact, his dealership has been ordered not to do any more engine swaps until a permanent fix is found. Nissan is apparently blaming a new supplier in Mexico who made the pistons and rods.

yea, ...its BS. the new rings and pistons are def the trick so far. I suggest you talk to someone beyond techs. Because u will get a diff story each time. The swaps are being done on a case by case basis or else they would be replaceing cars via lemon law. All engine parts from what i know are not being supplied from new mexico but a plant in japan. Ima check the part numbers.
so far all parts look like they come from and are built in Iwaki, Japan , none of which are made or supplied by newmexico. The reworked piston and rings are the result of handbuilt engines preassmbled there and shipped here in a small number since the oil issue isnt a issue that all revup owners or S1 owners have , since the s1 and the revup are basically the same setup.
One thing i was told was to make sure that ur engine isnt a rebuild revup . because the issue will just reoccur most def. But to make sure its the V2 or the handbuilt version. U can also tell by the part numbers im told and by the bolts being silver not bronze from what my corporate rep at nissan descirbed. My engine came from japan to newyork shipped from there directly to univeral nissan in florida after making stops at jacksonville from what the manifest was told to me. None of which was ever mentioned nor described as anything given to them or made in the US for the fix for these engines.Since the problem is often replicated in just replacing a revup with a none v2 revup. They have word not to swap engine for engine, since delears are eager to do so because its almost a 10k job in this situation. To order these limted engines that are limited in supply there is actually a waiting list. I actually waited a month for mine ....and acutally knew when dbais engine came in because they told me 2 engines where shipped to florida but coming in from different ports.

If you are losing a large-enough amount a few thousand miles from now, only then will you have a valid cause for concern.
