Rattle in 5th gear - coming from gear shifter
I've only noticed this for the last month or so. My 2006 only has about 7,000 miles on it. At first I thought it was from the windshield I had replaced (f'ing rock cracked my windshield about a month into owning it) but yesterday I realized the rattle was coming from the gear shifter. It only happens when I'm in 5th gear, regardless of how fast I'm going. If I hold my hand on it, it'll stop, but I don't want to have to do that ALL the time. Has anyone here heard about a problem like this?
I have the exact same problem but in 6th gear. If I put my habd on it, it stops. The last two times I have had my car serviced I asked about it. They told me that this was expected from a manual transmission. They don't seem to understand that it is an audible vibration. With no radio on it is quite noticable. Let me know if you get a resolution. My service department has pretty much blown me off.
I'll definitely bring it up next time i'm in there. Now that i [I]know[I] where the problem is coming from, it's just that much more noticable and annoying. They'd better not blow me off or i'll be furious
I just got my 06 Z today and I noticed the same rattle coming from the shifter. I wonder if it is the stock shift *** that causes the noise. Anyone have an aftermarket shift *** and still notice the rattle?
