It doesn't make any sense, but I've seen people dyno on a Dynapack and two weeks later dyno on a Mustang and they get all pissed off thinking their car lost 50HP.

Its all relative to the frame of reference. Different measuring systems will yeild different numbers.
I dont know why ppl even do that, once you get a reading on a specific dyno you should stick with that brand of dyno in order to have some repeatability when upgrading. Why some ppl get so caught up on the numbers game is beyond me, the only numbers that matter is on the track.

As for the dyno comparison, in my region a DD to a Ego Jet is usually anywhere from 14-15% difference.

I hear this stuff all the time and it confuses me how does a engine rated to do 287 rwhp only put out something in the mid to low 2's how do they come up with this original number has anyone had there stock z run 287(pre06') and secondly how would you go about getting your engine to run that number?

287hp is what the motor puts out. A lot of that power gets "lost" in moving all the stuff between the motor and the dyno. (transmission, drive shaft, wheels etc.)
