Every newbie wants a 400HP 350Z. 90 percent don't even buy a 350Z. Come back with a car first.

sounds like someone is bitter... whats your prob?

is there a fault for someone doing research before they dump 30k on a car?

maybe you have that kind of money where you can waste 30-50 grand and not have the performance you want, but based on your list of mods, id say you probably dont.

a large part of my selection of the car is speed, so i would want to know what kind of investment of time and money i need to make before i buy it.

thanks to all that have been helpful.

get a used base Z....start from the ground up and you will have a killer car.

or just get an evo and call it a day

350z is not a highway monster, but could be with alot of money. If straight line speed is all you are looking for get a cobra and up the boost, or a used corvette.

i dont fit in the cobras (im 6'8") and i dont really like the interiors of vettes, a little cheap. And dont want an evo b/c everybody wants one (side note:my friend just took his 1 week old EVO9 with exhaust and some version of computer tuner and ran an 11.79 on street tires)... rather have something unique, and a worked out Z isnt as common as some other things.

i would be getting a base model Z for sure if a Z is the way i go.

you don't fit in a cobra and you're looking at a Z?!

have you tried to fit in it yet?
(i'm 6'2" and make it with room to spare, but i dunno if i make it by 6")

I've put about $12k into my car and plan on putting another $15k in, but then i'm going for 525whp without stressing anything

height doesn't mean much unless you know what the person's pant length is.. a person can have long legs.. and short torso or vice versa..

i have a buddy who is 5"11 and his pants are 33 length.. i am 6'3 and my pants are 31 length... i have alot of room in my Z... suprised the hell out of me because i bought the car before even sitting in it.. the only time it crossed my mind if i would fit was when i was on my way to pick up the car

If you haven't bought the car yet, a 2005-06 GTO might be a better choice for you, that is if you don't wish to spend too much $$. A cam, full exhaust and tune will net you over 400whp (gotta love the LS2).

Congrats on an opportunity to show off your sense of humor. I am 100% with the OP on this issue though. Had I done similar research back in 2003, I wouldn't be in a mess I am in now: bought a 38K touring w/navi, dumped nearly 10K into it, made it just a little faster then stock, only to find out that the engine and 5AT are too weak for FI and built motors are too much $$. Granted that there was not much to chose from back in 2003 and noone really knew the limitations of the Z, I should have not wasted any money on the Z and traded it in for an 05 GTO 2 years after I bought it...

Why dont you buy one of the monsters floating around, check out modifiedcartrader.com, BigBri's monster is on there for the price of a new Z, then you could have well over 400rwhp....
