Default Engine sleeving options...

I know Darton does it, and I have heard AEBS does as well, but I haven't seen anything from them without their stroker.

What kind of options do I have, and approximate costs on each? Opinions, etc

Thanks!

Are you the same guy on drag240sx? If your talking about who in general and not a specific motor there are a bunch of smaller machine shops that do this kinda work one is local here in Greenville.
Golden Eagle in Calforina.
There is a company called L.A sleeve that does alot of outboard marnine stuff but they do stock and can make automotive sleeves.

Darton sleeves are the only viable option, IMHO. You can have them installed at any good machine shop...check with them first. But IMHO, the Darton sleeve design is superior to AEBS, and has no real possibility of sinking...unlike the AEBS setup.

Darton sleeves run about $1000 or so for the set for the VQ35, and about the same for installation.

I won't question that the Darton sleeve for the VQ motor is of superior design & finnish, but they both use a stepped flange on both the upper & lower part of the sleeve & the machining process in the block is the same for both & therefore there is no possibility of sinking in ether of them.
Where the Darton does appear better, is the top face cooling channel mimics the original open deck

The cooling channels are smaller on the AEBS/LA Sleeve. LA Sleeve makes the sleeves for AEBS i believe.

I think for anything but a purpose built drag car the darton sleeves will always be better.

I had the Darton sleeves installed on my block.

Sometime ago there were issues with the Darton sleeves sinking, but it was due to improper installation and not the Darton sleeve itself. That is why it is so very important that you have an experienced machinist perform the critical operation; heat expands the block and if not installed properly the sleeves could drop.

Goodluck

I ran an AEBS sleeved block for a while and logged coolant temps and saw no change from stock. I am now running a stock block again and see no changes in coolant temps from the AEBS block.

I am not familiar with the AEBS sleeves, but is that the only reason that you reverted back to stock sleeves; because of temperature? Why did you re-sleeve from stock to AEBS, in the first place?

No, there was no difference in temperatures that I could see.

I went back to stock sleeves because I blew my headgaskets and built a new engine. I decided that I did not need a sleeved block for my HP goals.

We are a distributor for ERL Performance, who is an authorized Darton installer, but with PRI, I haven't been able to get ahold of anyone. I know they do the Honda engines in house, not sure if they can do the VQ or not though.
