Default the diff....erence

Jim H posted that he was switching his auto ring and pinion wiht a lower r/p out of a manual tranny rear end.
Here is the diff ..... erence between the two diffs in size.
You can swtich them out but it is recomended to switch the whole pumpkin housing out.

they are both diffs from 350Z's.....
The one is form a manula trann car
the other is form an automatic tranny car.......
People with auto car talking about switching out the final drive and going to a lower final drive form the manual tranny car......
To do this you need to switch out the whole pumkin housing because there is a differnece between the ring and pinion thicknesses......

LOL Ares. Clearly the one of the left is faster because it's bigger

It's amazing how an actual informative post on this board so quickly degrades into meaningless babble...

It's also amazing how these same informative threads can needlessly degenerate into something worse than babble.

Sorry if we (or I) offended you.

Yup, just trying to swap the R & P would not work for sure. I am changing out the whole housing and as you say, we should be okay. Thanks for your input and interest. I'll let you know how it pulls when we are done. Regards, Jim

The diff's are actaually the same size.................the offset of the main gear on the diff is what would be differnet.
