Default 2003 tranny replacement

I am about to put my car in the dealer to get a replacement tranny.. it grinds in 2nd and 3rd when driving it hard... question I have is for the people who have had this done in the past..

do you know if the dealer is going to replace this with a brand new transmission? Or is this going to be a rebuilt tranny? Its going to be covered under warranty.. but was just curious is all..

well your questions are valid, but have been aswered, though from looking for the answer to those my self I know it's convoluded and spread across threads, so I wont use the "search!" response...

They almost never do a rebuild, they pretty much put a new transmission, i've never once heard of the dealer rebuilding it. They also give you a brand new clutch with the first tranny replacement.

there are also 4 trannies out now cd007, cd008, cd009, and cd010(I havent seen this one, but i've heard of it here on the forums). When they replaced mine it was a 007, now it has a 009. It seems people have had alot better luck with the 008-009 models (dont know of anyone who has a 010).

Not substantiated, but from another thread (very good one here) about the interals of the Z transmission, it seems that the 007 models where under synchroed, the models after it have tripple cone synchros for 2nd and 3rd gear, and dual cone synchros for the rest of the gears... not sure exactly what the revisions for the 008 to 009 to 010 are...

Where did you hear about the CD010? Can you post any links or additional info you have? Thanks... I just got a cd009 about 3 weeks ago and I'm interested!

That is some good info man. My Z will be going in next week for the same replacement. Dealership ordered me a 009.

First mention of cd010 i've seen:
https://my350z.com/forum/forced-induction/246117-professional-analysis-and-pictures-of-our-6mt-internals-3.html

post about 2/3 the day down by BriGuyMax

above thread also contains the info on the syncrhos that I got. Mention of other models and other tranmission replacements used to be in a HUGE thread about "who has gotten their transmission replaced" and it used to be a sticky, but I cant seem to find it anywhere now...

CK010 is wrong. The 07 is a JK400.The cd009 is the last number in that sequence. It will probably be a new tranny.

damn.. talk about service! Just got my car back.. 1 day turn around! They put a 009 in. It shifts much much smoother now with much left effort. Still a tad notchy.. but it feels good regardless.
