IF these doubled syncros are the culprits of 1st, 2-3rd and 5th notchiness/grinding, can they be replaced w/the triple cone synchros?.....
on rare occasions, i can't engage 1st from a dead stop....
+1 pics of snychros, i don't even know what one looks like
i have a g35 sedan 6MT, same trannies correct?

Great info..can you conclude anything about third gear "breaking the welds" as we had discussed months back from our foreign friends with the fast quarter mile times?
Any visable idea of where the welds break and how it could possibly be re-welded to fix a third gear that is "freely spinning"?
please ask the opinion of your friend's shop
Thanks

There is absolutely no way this is possible. The gears aren't "welded" in any way and they are one solid piece of steel. I have no idea what those guys are talking about after pulling apart this trans.
BTW - I need to talk with you about my motor build in the next couple days...I want to get moving on this very soon.

EDIT: Thinking about it...sounds weirdly similiar to our synchro problem. I've used Redline MT-90 since this trans had 1000 miles...maybe that's why I haven't had any further synchro issues.

briguy I found this on a 3Si board:
But there seems to be mixed feedback around it over all. In the end I guess I would defer to the specialist who works on these all the time.

The problem with the transmission are twofold one the casing of the trans goes bad and two the gearing also goes bad as well. I bought my 3000gt with a rebuilt trans., but only the gearing was replace. Now I am looking at 1800 to fix the case on the trans.( I will replace w/ a JDM trans for about $600) so just be careful. The gas mileage is dreary- I get about 16 w/ mainly city driving. 19-20 Hwy. The window motors have both gone bad and parts are VERY expensive and getting hard to find. con't below

Don't have any pics of the synchros at this time. I'm about 175mi from the trans right now so I'll try and get my friend to take a few pics of the synchros sometime in the near future.
And yes...the G35 6MT is identical.

It's the revision number. There are 10 revisions to this transmission since the 350Z came out in late 2002. The latest is 010...but people have had good success with revision 8 and on.
