I dont think that noise is coming from your exhaust. Put your head next to the side beam with the door opened on the drivers side with the door opened. If you hear rattling its your engine. And have the dealer check to see if your car is low on oil.

If it progresses, i think they will replace your engine. That's what they are about to do for me. They already replaced a 350z motor cause of the same issue.

The dealership i went to has great service. I hope they replace my engine. Plus that rattling noise is really annoying.

i wish you had the same problem. But this is only for 2006 models. Anyone know how to clean soap residue off a chrome type wheel???

I've got 2k miles on my current oil change. I just checked it, it's a quart low. When I cleaned off the dip stick, the oil residue color was grayish!! I'm guessing metal shavings?? I agree with you kmyung128 that it's not my exhaust and the noise is very noticable with the drivers door open.

You should take your car in and have them take a look. Cuz the thing you dont want is your engine running with no oil in it. We all know what happens when there is no oil. And the metal shavings will cause major problems in your car.

Take it in before they blame you for it.

This is where I look, when I'm looking for recalls, and bulletins.

Nissanhelp has a list of recalls here: http://www.nissanhelp.com/Recalls/

You can look on Nissan's website by going here: http://www.nissanusa.com/owning/recall_info/
Enter your model and year, and it will look it up.

Also, you can go to http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/
to look up recalls, and service bulletins with the Department of Transportation.

I wonder if everyone else with 2006 models have had this problem as well. If so many vehicles are having problems, why arent they having a recall on this vehicle????

Does anyone know how they determine whether or not to recall a vehicle??? Besides doors not locking and any obvious things......

I haven't noticed any rattling coming from mine. I'll have to start listening for it.

I usually have my music blasting so loud, I wouldn't even hear it if I ran someone over Suppose I should start paying attention too.

I noticed it but i thought it was normal, until the service advisor mentioned to me about the rattling. Said its not normal. Im so glad she pointed it out and is willing to get me a new engine if the oil drops again.

Great person to work with. She knows a bit about cars too. And she had an 04 with 20" Volk rims on it.

Hahaha. Good question. Not really hot. She is ok. But i think she is in her 40's. But she was great to work with. Knows what she is doing and talking about. Very polite as well.

Yeah let me know what she says. But dont mention me. I mean dont specify that you heard that you would get a new engine. But just let her know that you heard about oil consumption and to see if you will need an engine replacement.

You know what i mean??? But yeah let me know what she says.
