Sorry, the RB is owned by the 2JZ. Sounds like the VQ may be able to give 2JZ a run. I am honestly shocked I am typing this BTW. I am real interested in what would be required to make a 1200hp+ VQ. You can do that with a 2jz by just calling a shop and sending money. Right now I don't know a single VQ (besides this drag monster) that has even come close. If you can adopt the lessons learned from this drag car and make a daily drivable VQ with 1200+ hp that would be a truely amazing thing. Not saying a Supra with 1200hp is truely a daily driver but people do make streetable cars that powerfull from all the reports you read.

Even if you could "just send money" it would be ridiculously more expensive than a built 2jz.
I still like VQ though.. But i don't think it's at peak performance as a street car for the money. Maybe in the future. I think the VQ will take a step further once the new GT-R is out.

I would actually like to know what is required (in the block/head) to get a 1200+ hp VQ. Sounds like they have Off The Shelf bearings they are willing to sell you. I am sure it would require the standard headgasket, studs, etc upgrades. But they are getting 2000+hp so 1200hp would be much less stress. Maybe the VQ block properly sleeved is stronger then we give it credit for. Maybe they sleeve it soo much that you don't have enough cooling passages left for a street car? Who knows.

That is by no means a funny car. There is some stock z there somewhere. It is most likely a double frame rail 25.1 car. Far far away from a funny car. This particular chassy spec is used by most outlaw 10.5w race cars now adays.

40K should be more then enought to get a built engine. Probably more like 25K. Then add double that for the rest of the setup. Like was stated its in the 60K+ range for these type of numbers, more if you have a shop do all the work.
